Question about guaranteed and choosing your own stateroom.

We are moving our Sept Eastern Carib cruise to Feb. We currently have a extended veranda stateroom that we chose. On the Feb cruise we see that there are guaranteed extended veranda 4e available, but there are none to choose. It actually does not appear that we can choose anything on deck 5 where the 4e's are. Is this normal that there would be rooms avail that Disney can choose for you, but not available for you to choose yourself? I read on here that one lady had a guaranteed 4e and was given a 4a, which does not have the extended veranda. We are willing to pay the extra to choose our extended veranda room, but it does not appear that it is an option to choose on our own. Do they open up later, maybe?

Once a certain percentage of rooms within a category is sold, the category goes "guarantee". That means you can select the category, but DCL will assign you a room within that category (or higher) later. You pay the same price for this type of guarantee booking, regardless if you are able to select a room or not.
