I plan on getting some groceries for lunch and breakfast at the publix near disney. I was wondering if there are any alabama people that know if the grocery prices there are comparable to the ones in Alabama. I know that florida does not tax food so that will make a difference. If the prices are much different I will get the non perishable items here before I leave. Thanks bunches!!! Deah

I don't know about AL prices, I live in Tn. I do
go to Publix and buy food for the week we are
there. I am careful not to buy too much of the
perishable items (over bought one year). The
fresh fruit was too expensive there. The prices
seemed to be higher last year than in the past.
If you will be on a strict budget I would bring
sale items from home. We do eat out quite a bit
while there so I won't buy very much at Publix.
It will only be 2 of us on this trip and we will
be using the Q&C vouchers on site. We used them
last year and saved money while having some
great meals in the parks. If you have any other
questions you can PM me and I will get back with
the answers. Diane

Thanks Diane,

I guess i Will bring what I can from the house. We want to eat our lunches and breakfasts at the resort and then eat out for dinner.

I love TN!!!!!

It is where me and DH were born!!!

Thanks you!!!

one idea is the bring some coupons from home and maybe buy a local paper. WE found that out last time we were down. The coupons were much better than up here in CT and even with the price of the paper, we saved $10 with the coupons.

WOW!!! GOOD IDEA GEEBS!!!

And it helps that I AM going into the world on a Sunday!!!

Good tip!!
I will be at my grandmothers over night.

While we were at WDW last week we first shopped at Sam's Club for cereal, milk, OJ, eggs, salad mix, lunch meat, dinner meat, potato chips, bottled water, etc. Those prices were very close to what I pay here in NY. I went into sticker shock when I went to Publix and found milk to be $3.99 a gallon!! We pay about $1.99-2.19 a gallon here for milk. Produce and fruit and beer was very expensive, but most other things were close to what I would pay here. We did coupon it at the grocery store too. That really did help save about $10 on our house grocery bill. If you have a Sam's Club membership and need bulk food of any kind it might be worth taking a trip there. We ate mostly breakfast and lunch at the house with two big dinners there and then snacks for dinner on nights were weren't at the park late.

Good luck and have fun!!

Jusy FYI - Pubix is typically the highest priced Florida grocery store chain. The Publix brands, which are less expensive than the name brands, can usually be counted on for quality, so don't be afraid to buy them. Their deli meats are great!

Hi Deah,

We place an order at Albertson's (fax it the day we leave) and pick up the order on the way. I have used the Super Wal Mart (always very crowded) Publix, and Goodings as well. I like Albertson's because it's easy to get to, the order is ready and I'm not taking up a lot of space up in the car all the way from home for groceries (besides my DD's would probably eat it all before we got there:D) Here's the information if you're interested
