Ok, I heard the rumor on the DDE auto tip but didn't know it was official.

OMG... I think you were out with my co-worker. I have one co-worker where I always pick up the tab and tip extra just for the "wait staff" abuse! SHe's a JERK in real life and it REALLY comes out when dealing with those she consideres "beneath" her. I generally get berated all the way back to the hotel because "you tip too much"

And it's things like "the water glass has 1" of water gone" It's like she expects V&A type service at Applebees!!!! (Plus her meat must be burned to a crisp. Most resturants do not automatically char grill your steak until it resembles the shoe leather!)

If you only knew how many of these people we servers deal with on a daily basis..(No I don't work at Disney)..:scared1:

TIPS......To Insure Prompt Service......Being billed 18% for a party of less than 6 automatically would really piss me off.By the way I usually give at least 20% for good service.

We just went to a Charley's yesterday. My son made All-Stars this year and we have been traveling the state for tournaments. Anyway a bunch of us from his team around 25 ate. The server was really good, even though it was split checks they added 15% to the bill. I am a server but my local IHOP does not add gratuity at all no matter how big the party. I asked him how much was added when he told me 15% I gave him a extra 5.00 bill on top of what was already added to my bill. Didn't bother me but then again if I had a terrible server I may of thought differently. There was one mother at our table who was complaining to us when the server picked up our money was asking did you need money back. She got all huffy and said I hate that when they do that, I will leave what I want to leave. I had to say something, I explained that alot of people don't tell you to keep the change they wait until you go and cash them out digging and taking the time to do it and when you come back saying ohhh keep the change. While its great to know you get a tip, it would make things easier to just tell them to keep the change if that is what you are wanting for them to do.

Yes, that was the deal. The original union contract barely failed ratification, so to attract enough votes for passage, the deal was to add 18% gratuity on ALL DDE checks, plus reducing the threshhold for mandatory 18% gratuity for large parties from 8 to 6.

That's the final outcome, and it was ratified by the union.
