Question about Gov't. Discounts

I noticed that the Swan & Dolphin give discounts for government employees, and that one needs to show government ID at check-in...what I don't know is does this apply to ALL government employees or only federal government?

I work for my local government and wanted to know if I was eligible for this discount.

Government discounts are just for Federal employees on travel for business. Sometimes they will offer state employee discounts also. But I would call and ask most of the time the employees do not know the rules and will book you at the lower rate if you have a government ID.

That's not the case. I stayed at the Dolphin from 11/29 - 12/3 with the government discount and I work for the state government. I asked when I made the reservation and they told me it's for all government employees. When I checked in, I showed them my ID, which is actually the security pass to get into my building. He looked really quickly at it and that was that. And I was on a personal trip with my family.

I work for local goverment and just showed my pay stub and that was okay also. I did this for the swan and dolphin on different occasions.

For the Swolphin, it's federal, state, and local government employees. And you do not have to be traveling for business.

I work for the county sheriff's office and was able to get a discount at the Swan. I just showed them my ID badge. We were not there on business.

The Swan and Dolphin are really good with the govt. discounts. We got ours for Dec 1-2 at the Dolphin. They did ask to see dh govt. id. His is stamped with property of US Dept of ***(sorry I never put this on the internet). Its a good discount. Just call the hotel directly. Its a good deal if the Disney deluxes are more than you can afford.
