Question about getting to POP kinda late

So I've read the post about how it's good to call the hotel and let them know you'll be arriving late, not necessary but not a bad idea. Now here's my concern...

Our plane will be arriving at 9:30 pm so I don't really expect to get to the hotel till around 10:30 pm at the earliest. I'm a little nervous we'll get a "not as nice" room. Maybe the farthest away room or the worst parking lot view...you know, the ones that are "ok" but that people who were there earlier than us didn't really want. Just to clarify, I didn't request a preferred room.

Please help me with my fears! Am I just being paranoid??

thanks

I can't wait to "hear" what people tell you. We're on a flight arriving 35 min after yours in September, so please keep us posted!

We've never stayed at POP, but last September when we stayed at the Poly our plane didn't get in until 11:30 p.m. and we didn't arrive at the Poly until around 1:00 a.m. I had 3 requests noted on our ressie (of course my heart wasn't set on them because I know they are only requests and are not guaranteed), but we got 2 out of the 3 ::yes::. So I don't think it really matters when you arrive :confused3. We have arrived late a few other times and have gotten great rooms at other resorts, as well :goodvibes. Good luck and I hope you get a great room pixiedust:.

I am arriving on the 11:30 pm flight in August but this will be the first time. I am only staying 1 night so the room does not matter to me (just a place to crash). I am moving over to OKW and I will be there bright and early to have the best chance at my preferences. If you are going after August, PM me then and I will let you know what I got.

I'm doing something similar in August-my plane gets in at Midnight to Pop.

We have always found that we have better luck getting 'nicer' rooms when we check in earlier rather than later. I would think for the reason you stated...the later you are, the less they have to choose from if they need to move you around to accomodate.

I think alot would depend on how booked out the resort is when you stay and of course, a little Disney luck.:wizard: I would determine the room you want ahead of time (connecting, certain building, view, etc) and have it noted on your ressie as a request. If all else fails and you hate the location they give you upon check-in, maybe they can move you the following day.

We tend to arrive at WDW around 6:00 p.m. due to flight schedules. If everyone has the same requests, the probability that your requests will be granted are slim.

However, if you really don't like your room location when the CM is checking you in and showing you the map, ask him/her what else might be available. There may be another location that might suit you better, even if it isn't where you requested. Or not. We arrived when the computer system was down and really didn't like our room location. Under the circumstances, we asked if we could request a different location the next morning. No problem.

Turned out, my friend loved the location (I didn't, but she usually goes with my decisions, so it was her turn!) so we stayed there!

If it's during a very busy holiday or special event period, they may not be able to move you. But if it's possible, they will. :)

I too find that the earlier you check in the better chances of getting a nicer room. All 3 times I checked in before 11 am I got fabulous rooms ... one upgrade to concierge, on upgrade to water view and an awesome room in AB at POR. (I was solo too and they NEVER give you AB as a solo from what I hear.) The one time I checked in at 10:30pm I got the furthest preferred room at POP you could possible have asked for! I might as well have booked standard. When I questioned if I was in a preferred room at all and asked for ground floor or king they said tough. I'm not a complainer so I just made the best of it.
Good Luck! :)

Actually, this is exactly what happened to us. We arrived after midnight & I really don't think our room could have been any further away from what we requested. That's the bad news. However, the nice CM noted that I wanted to move ASAP. He told us to have all our stuff re-packed the very next day when we left for the parks & then to check in with after we got back from the park. WELL...hubby was pretty anxious about this as he had his laptop, etc...but we did it. When we came back for our mid day break, ALL of our stuff had been moved the greatest room, absolutely perfect (& no we weren't paying preferred but it sure felt like it)....they moved everything, AND delivered our FRIDGE SWAP refrigerator...all while we were at the park...needless to say , hubby was IMPRESSED...the kids & I , having beento disney, knew it was just Disney Magic. :hippie:

We checked in at 1:00 AM and actually got upgraded to preferred. We were in the 50's section right next to the main building. It was a great location.
