question about getting a better rate @ AKL concierge??

We're only staying a few nights here just for the experience and the sunrise safari. I was just wondering if anyone ever gets a good rate here?

Yes - last Oct we stayed 2 nights on an AP rate of $159 for Savannah view - zebra trail.

Generally AKL concierge is about 100.00 per night more than the room-only rate.

If you are an annual passholder - sometimes there are AP rates.

Occasionally there is a code for room only but not at the moment.

If you book a week at the Fairytale special you can stay 3 nights free - that is an excellant deal - especially for concierge.

Right now there are Canadian at Par rates for Canadian residents - but even then you are looking at $275.00 a night USD for concierge.

I'm afraid you are going to have to be prepared to fork over the high concierge rate to participate on the Sunrise Safari.

Including tax we are paying $400.00 a night for AKL Concierge. It is high but to me it'll be well worth it. This is with the AAA discount, which saved me $72.00 a night. It's vacation and I like to be pampered. ( Don't even want to make a sandwich)

We will be there in August for 5 days, and we have the sun rise safari reserved. That is a surprise for the kids, DS9 and DD7. I was planning on surprising my DH with the Concierge services but I couldn't keep it a secret anymore. (Just like a kid) DH said to go ahead and book it and I said well I already did.

We can't wait, if you can swing it go with the concierge. The sunrise safari is an extra charge, plus you must have a ticket to get into the AK.

Would buying an AP fit into your plans? I'm not sure of the dates you are considering but if I can borrow Mrs. A's example-she is paying $400/night with AAA discount but the room would only cost $340 + tax/night with an AP rate, so that would be another $240 savings over a 5 night stay.

But I already made my reservations!! They're for next June. Should I cancel them and go to my AAA office to make the reservations with them?

You don't have to book through AAA ( I would advise against it) They are probably not out yet, but you just call CRO and ask if a AAA rate is available for that time.

We stayed AKL Concierge this past Feb 1st through the 6th and paid $277 a night including tax with an AP rate. Rack Rate for that time frame was $425 or $450 without tax a night.

Howdya get AAA discount??? I just called and the CRO said it can't be done for AKL concierge!

The CM probably meant to say that there weren't any rooms available at the AAA rate or she was mistaken.

You can use AAA for a discount on AKL Concierge but only if there is a room available at that rate for the dates you need. The only have so many rooms set aside for AAA, AP, DC, etc.

You could keep checking but will probably end up paying full price if nothing opens up.

If this is for next June, they may not even have AAA rates out yet so just hold onto your ressie and check for a AAA rate when it gets closer to your trip. Also check out mousesavers.com for info on AP rates, codes, etc. You will see more info become available when it gets closer to next June.
