With the announcement earlier this year of the hotel/retail/dining complex on the west side of WDW property that will be made up of "outside" hotel companies, what do you think the future trend will be?

Does Disney view this as a way to make money(leasing the land) without having to incur the construction costs of new resorts and at the same time, still keep people on-site versus off-site?

Does this complex further reduce the chance of POP being completed anytime in the near future?

I love to speculate!;)

Pop will be completed.

a few years ago (might have been 3) they promised no new hotels at WDW for 5 years.

so they can't build a new hotel.

Pop is not a new hotel, and the rumor mill say it would start to be completed this Oct - well it hasn't.

but it will be one day!

forgot to add

when do I think that WDW will get start building?

when the 5 years is up (2009 I think) - and when everthing except Sept and Jan are at 90% occupancy.

If you build it we will fill it! Darn.. the crowds are already ridiculous most of the time, more hotel expansion means more visitors at one time means more line ups in the parks and at restaraunts ( yay for ADR's). Why dont they expand the parks while they're at it?

I agree...As much as I would love to see a new moderate, I think the parks need expanding more than the resorts right now.
