Question about FastPass limits

My family is planning a 17 day trip, however my wife will not be able to join us for a few days in the middle of the trip. With this in mind, we booked our 7 days of Fastpass+, leaving out a couple of days in the middle.

The question I have is whether I can use the Fastpass+ kiosks at the park on the days when I did not schedule in advance without screwing up my future reservations.

For example, if I have Fastpass+ reservations for 7 days, (i.e. day 2-8), can I go into the park on day 1 and use the Fastpass+ kiosks without it canceling out one of my other days?

How long are your tickets and where are you staying? Those items may affect the answer. Since you mentioned we booked "our 7 days of FPs" I thought maybe you had APs and are staying off site?

The days I am skipping are days that I may not go in, and if I do it may be to a park like AK, where I don't think I need FP+. So instead of booking one of my 7 days for a day like that, I am using it to book an additional day at Epcot 30 days out.

My plans might change, so I was just wondering if I could still book a FP+ at a kiosk if I still have 7 other days booked. It sounds like I can.

Yes, we have AP and are staying offsite for 17 days.

you keep mentioning 7 days - do you have APs and are staying offsite is that why you feel like you are limited to 7 days? If you have an AP and are staying onsite you can book for everyday of your stay. if you have an AP and are offsite - you can book for 7 days at a time and once you've used one days 'worth' you can book another day (so you can 'hold' 7 days worth of FP+ at all times basically)

I think 17 days is a bit excessive. At Disney World Alone you should plan out 5 or at most 6 days, 2 days at Universal are a must. We went there for 10 days last time, found it to be a bit too little, but I think 14 should be perfect.

Yes, this. So you are only going to be able to book 7 days until you use a day. So you wont be able to get FPs for day 1 in your scenario unless you give up day 8 for example.

Sorry I have to comment here. Just because you thought it was too long doesn't mean that others do. I think its a little presumptuous to come along and tell someone else how to vacation. Going to Universal is great, many enjoy it and we anticipate adding it to a trip in our future as well, however, to tell someone that they HAVE to do something that they haven't asked about is overstepping.
