Question about fast pass

I have reservations at a Disney resort and I am wondering if you need to have purchased or linked passes on your MDE to make fast pass reservations at the 60 day mark. One of our family members will not know until a few weeks before our trip whether our not he will be able to go due to his school schedule. So can't purchase his pass until then. His name is on the room reservation, so will I be able to include him in our fast pass reservations?

A person has to have valid tickets linked to their mde account for them to be able to have FP's

Thanks for the info. That is what I was afraid of. Any suggestions on the best way to handle this? I doubt that I will be able to add him on the harder to get passes.

You can purchase a ticket for him and link it and if he can’t go, save it where it’s linked and then before your next trip, reassign to another person.

I would personally make all the other fastpasses at the 60 day mark, then as soon as the person has their ticket, work in getting fp at the same, or at least overlapping times. Easier to get a single than a bunch. May take some time and effort, but I would guess you can get most of what you want. And if you can’t, you can always modify yours to fit what is out there.

Thank you. I guess that is the best solution. I did consider purchasing a ticket and saving it if it doesn't get used, but I am just not sure when we will be going back. It may be at least 3 years.

We had this situation for our recent trip. My MIL and SFIL stayed offsite and didn't purchase their tickets until about 25 days prior to the trip. Some FP I was able to add them to without issue, but others, like 7DMT and FOP, I couldn't. We tried refreshing in the park the day of and were able to get a few, but other times, we just let them use our Magic Bands and ride with our kiddos, since we were able to get in early for EMH etc., and they weren't. I love 7DMT but I don't need to ride it 6x's during one trip, lol. It was much harder for me to give up my FOP FP, but I really wanted them to have that opportunity to experience it.
If you don't feel comfortable purchasing the ticket, I would just plan on trying here and there randomly. It was difficult and it didn't always work out, but I was able to secure most FP for our group eventually.

Another option is to stop by Guest Relations when in the park and explain your circumstances. They may be able to add that one person into most of your pre-booked FPs. FoP and the TSL rides may not apply but it doesn’t hurt to ask. :goodvibes
