I do not have cats. My DD and DSIL do, and I wanted to surprise them with a gift for their cats at Christmas. (they have no kids) They feed them Fancy Feast. Target is having a sale where you spend $40 you get $10 off on Purina, which is Fancy Feast. What is a good price for a multi pack of Fancy Feast? Does anyone buy that? Thanks!

I've tried feeding my cats really good, highly rated cat food, they turned their noses up and will pretty much only eat Fancy Feast. That said, when it goes on for 60 cents/can we buy it. On Black Friday, one pet store put it on for 49 cents/can, so we bought over 100 cans of it - that's the lowest price we see all year. Keep in mind, I'm Canadian and things are usually cheaper in the US (which I''m guessing is where you are, since you mentioned Target). Costco sells a 30 can multipack for about $15 up here, and that's a really good price for us as well.

Hope this helps a bit!

I often buy Fancy Feast at Target when I can get a deal such as you mention. My cats are fussy - they don't eat the pate style which is usually the least expensive can. They love some of the more expensive items such as the broths. And of course they love the Temptations treats.

Ok. Thanks to you both! I don't have a Costco near me. I think I will purchase at Target. It works out to about $.48/can for what I was going to buy. (A variety, no pate because I can't remember if they wat that)

I don't know the price off hand, but my cats adore Fancy Feast. It would be a lovely gift for any cat owner who feeds that to their cats.

Oh my gosh.......we should own stock in Temptation treats!!!! It's the only treats our cat will eat. He will also only eat Purina Pro Plan wet food, you know, the small cans that are about a dollar each!! Plus the fact that I first have to put each can in his own personal blender with extra water so it's more soupy. Talk about a picky cat. He's lucky we love him so much!!! :cat:

I can only tell you what I know is a standard price around here in New England. It routinely goes on "sale" for 55 cents a can. I generally refuse to pay that much and will wait and stock up with Costco has a sale and/or coupon and I can generally get it in a 36/pack for about 47-49 cents/can (sometimes even less!). We JUST (as in three days ago) switched out to Friskies because our cat's appetite has seemed to increase and the Friskies cans are larger.... but she projectile vomited last night, so I'm not sure that the switch was a good idea. Will play it by ear for the next few days before I open the cases...........P

I buy Fancy Feast for my Kitty too. He gets the expensive Royal Canin kibble from the Vet's office, but is not a fan of the expensive canned food. He gets 1/2 can of Fancy Feast at dinner and a scoop of kibble to graze on all day / night. I buy it at Walmart a box of 12 cans $7.46 or 2 boxes for $14. I buy 2 boxes at at time 24 cans for $14, so $.58/ can. Sometimes Thrifty foods will have the boxes for $6 so then i get them there instead of walmart. He too loves the Temptations treats.

I just wanted to post a small warning about Fancy Feast. My one cat was diagnosed with diabetes and is now insulin dependent. The first thing our vet told us was no Fancy Feast because it is very high in sugar. Just figured that I would share.

My vet said something similar but when I told her how much and how often it was served (1/2 per day) she was fine with it. That amount wouldn't cause diabetes. the Purnia website where people give reviews have many diabetic cats on there and the food seems to have the lowest starch content. Perhaps different varieties are better than others.

I think your vet wants to sell you expensive cat food. Here is a carb list for canned cat food. Fancy Feast does not stand out - although with any brand, you need to watch your varieties if you cat has issues: http://www.biggervet.com/cat/lowcarb/

I think if you can get the cans for about .50 each, that's a good deal, and that's about what you should pay at Target, then use the coupon. You should probably try and find out what flavors they like, since cats can be picky.
