I was just wondering if there was a door between the Queen bed area and the living room area. We might be having another Adult come with us and just wondering if Dh and I will be able to shut the door and get some privacy.

Thanks

Yes, There is a door you can shut.

You can see the door on the other side of the TV,

* Note another nice thing about the Suites is there is NO extra charge for an extra adult.
1-6 adults can stay at the Family Suites for the same price!

DH and I stayed in a Family Suite at All Star Music ( a value resort) last Sept. (2006)

We really enjoyed the Queen size bed, the kitchenette with the microwave, having a sofa and cushioned chair to sit on and relax after a day at the parks before retiring for the evening.

I thought the pullouts very comfortable.

They are designed so the back cushion and seat cushion of the pullout support the pullout. There is no meatle bar to hurt the sleepers back.

Info thread--Pullouts in Family Suites at ASMU with photos of how the pullout is supported.

Thanks Linda...I knew you'd have the answer. :thumbsup2 It's also nice to hear that there won't be an additional charge for the other adult. I wasn't sure, but I thought there might be.

I think what a lot of people have commented on was the lack of privacy going to and from the bathroom to the bedroom, because you have to exit the bedroom, walk by the kitchenette (and open doorway to the living room) to get to the bathroom. But the bedroom itself does have a door. I'm surprised they haven't put a privacy curtain up there, like at the moderate resort sink areas, to solve the problem.

Click...did you see that light bulb turning on? :rotfl2: Looking at the picture I thought the door closed between to the two sections like in adjoining rooms, now I see that the bedroom is it's own seperate room.

They do have privacy curtains, just like the mods ,1 by each sink.
They just do not have a privacy curtain between the living area and the kitchen area.

There is also lack of privacy to get to the bathroom in a standard room at any of the resorts.

There is also lack of privacy to get to the bathroom in a studio at a DVC.

There is also lack of privacy to get to the bathroom at the FW cabins:

There is also lack of privacy to get to the bathroom in a BW deluxe room:

At least at the Family Suites you have a private bedroom area for a couple and 2 bathrooms , each bathroom has privacy curtains by the vanity-closet area like the mods.:thumbsup2

Not disputing the lack of privacy in any of those. It's just that I've read several reviews that said they wished that they could get to the bathroom from the bedroom of the Family Suite without being in full view of the people sleeping in the living room, and thought the OP might have mistaken that to mean there was no door on the bedroom. I think some people are expecting a layout more like a DVC one bedroom, and it's just not set up that way.

Of course, a person could always take their own tension rod and curtain with them, if it really was a problem.

I was just going to bring a robe with me and DH . I figured that was the best way to get from the bedroom to the bathroom . I hate dressing in those little bathrooms. As for anyother issues I really can't see any issues other then that being a huge issue at all. So there is no curtain at least there is a seperate room. What regular room is there a curtain in anyway ? We just came back from Myrtle Beach and in our suite there we had no curtain. Not a big deal . I just can't wait to go . July 29th is so far away !!

Just wondering about these family suites...
Has anyone priced 2 regular rooms (ie . for 4 people) vs. the cost of a family suite...?? I got the impression that the family suite was more costly ??

thanks !

There is a slight difference in price - but the largest difference is that the suites are not eligible for any discounts.

we booked the family suites for the fact that they fit 5 . They also include a small kitchenette which even with two rooms at the allstars or Pop we wouldn't get. it was well worht the price compared to getting two rooms and making sure they are conjoined rooms and then getting a fidge. etc. We drive down so the kitchenette is a big help for small breakfasts in the room.

The moderate resorts have a privacy curtain between the sleeping area and the sink area.

Many of the off property suite hotels don't have doors or curtains between the sleeping room and the living room. It wouldn't be any different really than being in a hotel room where you're all in one room together. Sometimes though it's nice to have privacy if it's two couples traveling together. It just always seems different when it's family as opposed to friends. That's why I like the DVC 1br so much. The bedroom has a door, plus you can access the bathroom without going into the living room.

Just an FYI

For comparison, the price of a Family Suite is $9-11 more then 2 Standard Rooms, or $13-15 less the 2 Preferred Rooms, depending on season.

Also a fridge is included in AS Suite.

Fridges cost $10 a night to rent when staying at a value . Don't forget the Queen size bed,a coffee pot and microwave are also in Family Suites.

BTW
Trekker is correct .
At this time there are no discounts on the Suites.
Hopefully in the future the Suites will be discounted.

Just an FYI
The newly refurbished rooms and the Family Suites have a privacy curtain between the sleeping area and the sink area.

In fact since the Family Suites have 2 sink areas they have 2 privacy curtains --1 by each sink area :

Privacy closed AS Family Suites

If it is 2 couples are travling together and they want privacy I would not recommend the Family Suites.

If they want to save money by staying in the Family Suites at least they have a little more privacy than 1 room .

The Family Suites were buillt with a family in mind.
So the parents could have a little privacy and the children could have their sleeping area.
