Question about excursions on St. Maarten

What is the best excursion to do on this island? We were thinking of doing the Trunk Bay one, is it worth it?

Umm ...

Trunk Bay is located on St. John near St. Thomas. It is not located on St. Maarten.

We did the Golden Eagle Catamaran excursion while we were in St. Maarten and loved it! The catamaran ride was fun and very wet! We stopped at an uninhabited island (which was clothing-optional, by the way!) and had time to snorkel and swim. The crew was very friendly and served a lot of drinks.

We went snorkeling at Trunk Bay when the we stopped in St. Thomas. Trunk Bay is the most beautiful beach I have ever seen! We liked the snorkeling there better than on the Golden Eagle Catamaran trip. There is an underwater trail to follow while snorkeling at Trunk Bay. The park there is very nice too.

Right, I understand that Trunk Bay is in St. Johns. We have been told that St. Johns is much prettier than St. Maarten, so we thought we'd go there. We also heard that Trunk Bay was the best place to go.

We shopped in St. Maarten the first trip but on the second went over to Anguilla to Dolphin fantaseas and loved it!
Trunk bay in St. John is beautiful and I would highly recommend that, it would be on the day after St. Maarten when you get to St. Thomas

cynsaun....trunk bay may be reached from St Thomas...not St Maarten. I also did trunk bay on the day we stopped at St Thomas. On St Maarten...I did the French side beach rendevous (sp) and it was ok...lots of nudity though.

St Maarten is your first stop and then the next day you go to St Thomas where you may take a water taxi to St John (Trunk Bay).

In Saint Maarten clothing is optional at the beach, on the dutch side you will mostly see only topless women but on the french side total nudity is readilly accepted.
Some people are not aware of this and get upset when their children are "enlightened" just wanted to give you a heads up as to what you may find at the beach there.

The excurison brochure mentions every tour that goes by potentially nude beaches.
I highly recommend the 12 metre regetta on St Maarten.
We had a blast, as did our 12 and 16 year old.
