I have a question about this club (the 11-14 age group one).
I know that this club is a "come and go freely" club, but is there a way to NOT allow the child the ability to leave when he wants, and instead be called to come get picked up? I ask because I have a friend cruising soon who has a 13 year old child with autism who would probably like this club but he cannot be trusted to come and go as he wants, as he does not communicate very well at this time via phone or texting. But he's super into computers and video games and would probably really enjoy this space. He is a smart kid who could definitely find his way back to his cabin, for example, but his mom worries a lot about the "what if" type of scenarios because of his communication issues, like if he got lost, he would panic and wouldn't be able to ask for help. He also doesn't keep track of time very well so he can't be trusted to "leave at X time and meet us at X."
I was wondering if maybe the counselors could be made aware of his issues so he can remain at the club until his parents come to pick him up? Not sure if this is an option. Anyone know?
