What does this mean? Does it mean you are a member of Disney Vacation Club? If so, I thought that was some kind of timeshare, is that incorrect? Can someone explain?

Thanks,

Not sure about "earning" points, but when most people refer to "cruising on points", they are talking about Disney Vacation Club. Yes, it's based on time-share, but DVC has a different approach to it than the traditional time-share system. Your usual "week" is worth a certain number of points, and if you want to use them for another resort or for a cruise, the number of points you have is based on the desirability of the resort and week you have purchased. It's not a straight resort-for-resort exchange. And I get the impression that Disney cruises require a lot of points compared to a typical resort stay.

(This is outside my usual area of expertise... I'm sure any DVC owner can correct me.)

More information can be found at their web site...

or at the DVC board here at the DIS...

Yes, we are Disney Vacation Club members. We cruise on points about once a year. A minimum purchase is 150 points per use year. I for get how many points it is costing us to cruise for 7 days, it is quite a few, over 100 per person. We do this to avoid the giant chunk of change that needs to be handed over in order to cruise. We only hand over a $75 exchange fee. (not per person.)
That being said, DVC is a wonderful way to vacation. There will always be debate over which is the best way to budget points. We use them however we see fit.
