Question about drinks at brunch

So we're doing a brunch at the Attic, and for personal reasons, we're having an alcohol-free wedding. I've read over Carrie trip report, and I've seen all of her un-used soda, and I REALLY don't want to purchase a soda bar either, especially because the brunch menus come with juice, coffee, and tea. (We plan on paying the $25 or whatever it is for water too.) So, I was just wondering... is there any way to extend the juice/coffee/tea offerings longer than that hour and a half they say the menu is served for? Or will my guests just be thirsty?

We had a brunch as well, at Narcoossee's. We had the coffee, tea, juice etc. during the buffet hours. What my planner suggested for after that was just to order some BOC drinks, just incase someone needed something after the buffet was over. Everyone ended up having a coffee or something after they ate, so we didn't use any of those BOC drinks, and ended up getting a full refund for them. This might be an option for you, just as a back up so that your guests don't go thirsty.

I second that—BOC is the best because you don't have to pay for what doesn't get used. And since you're teetotaling, you won't have to pay for a bartender either. :thumbsup2

"Bill on Consumption" - instead of paying for a package of drinks, you only pay for what is actually consumed. They use a formula to determine how much to bill you when your final payment is due, then refund you the difference after the wedding. People usually get refunds.

We had iced tea and lemonade served in dispensers, so our guests could help themselves. The good thing was the cost was per gallon. Just another idea!

Thanks everyone for the ideas!

I LOVE this idea--- mostly because I don't feel like explaining what BOC is to my dad. Do you remember how much this cost??

We had a brunch at ADH and did BOC for both alcohol and soda. We also had the coffee, tea and juice that came with our brunch. We had 50 people at our wedding and we got alot of money back from the BOC for drinks (most people drank soda - there was just a few wines, beers and mixed drinks). I would definately do BOC for soda so at least it is offered to your guests. The other great idea is the ice tea by the gallon but I do agree that is alot of money for ice tea.

I believe there are 20 glasses in the gallon so that works out to $3.25 a glass. FYI

Best idea......

You could also ask if they would bring out a tray of cranberry & soda in champagne glasses with a mint sprig for a toast. I will look really pretty in your photos and it would be fancier....

Oh, no worries, we are going to get the bottles of sparkling cider for the toast! And I do like the BOC idea, but my dad (who is footing the bill) is... Dare I say... Thick headed? And I don't know if I could sell him on the idea and how he would probably get money back.

but thanks for all the suggestions!!!

I don't see what he could object to. Either he pays a lot of money for a package of way more drinks than anybody will ever finish, or he pays less money for an estimate of what people will drink and then gets some of it back after the event. I'll 'splain it to him if you'd like! :teeth:

OMG would you Carrie?!?! That would be the best. And then you could also tell my Grammy why a break during the wedding day is acceptable. :lmao:

But no, I will talk to my planner in August about BOCing it, or we may just do some lemonade and iced tea. (DF, the partier that he is, also doesn't drink soda.)

My planner pushed to not do BOC for soft drinks at our reception. I finally just gave up debating it and figured I could change it later once I get the BEO. The only thing I can think of is that she thinks guests will need more to drink because the reception will be outside? :confused3

We are having a brunch reception at St. Augustine ballroom, buffet style. We don't want alcohol at the reception but are getting a soda and water bar for 3 1/2 hours which will include the juices, coffee, and tea. Then on top we are getting some bottles of champagne for our toast and then if people want to make mamosas they can (orange juice and champagne) :)
