Question about drinking Wine

I recently went out to Karaoke with my 2 Sister In Laws on Thursday Night and came to realize that I could NOT drink as much wine as I used to!! I had fun and it was a cheap night for me as after 2 glasses, I was feeling really good!!

Does this usually happen?? I used to be able to drink like 5 or 6 glasses of the stuff before I was at my limit...now it is only 2! LOL

I have noticed the same thing. I used to be able to put away quite a few beers w/o getting too loopy. Now one makes me silly and after two I lose all sense! ha ha! I think it's a combination of not drinking as much or as often as I used to AND losing weight.

Hi. I've been on Atkins for about 6 weeks and I noticed the same thing. I was wondering if it's because I'm eating less now. In other words, when I used to drink wine or beer I used to eat a tons of appetizers and chips, etc. and maybe that slowed the rate that alcohol affected me enabling me to drink more. Now when I go out to a pub I usually order one appetizer like a banger and that's all I'll have (amazingly it's usually all I need now!). One beer goes straight to my head! It certainly is cheaper to go out now!

Ever notice at coctail parties or receptions the refreshments usually include little finger sandwiches and stuff like that? Crackers and cheese, teeny quiches in a crust?

There is a reason for that. The carbohydrates "soak up" the alcohol. They counter balance the alcohol so people don't get falling down drunk so fast. Seriously. It's true.

When I went to New Orleans in February I had one lite beer and oh my gosh, that was all it took. No carbs in my tummy to save me from myself, LOL.

I guess I'm really a cheap date now
