Ok... I was ready my unofficial guide last night and it has been 17 years since I stayed on property (and used Disney transporation) and I want to make sure I am understanding this correctly.

If you use Disney buses from the Resorts to the Magic Kingdom you BYPASS the Ticketing/Transportation Center?? Is that right? You don't come through the gate and THEN have to ride the monorail or ferry?? The bus takes you straight to the turnstile? Is that really true? I really can't remember, I just know that the thing I HATE about MK is having to ride the ferry or monorail.

Someone please enlighten me....

TIA!!

Yes -- if you take your Disney hotel transportation to MK, you bypass the Ticket & Transportation Center completely. If you take a bus, the bus stop is in front of MK, just on the other side of the monorail tracks. If you take a boat from a MK area resort, the dock close to the bus stop area as well. And if you take a monorail from one of the monorail resorts, you are let off right in front of the gates to MK.

I had read the same thing about the WDW transportation. It said that if you arrived at the park before the hour before it opened then you had to go on the monorail. If you took the system just one hour before it opened then you went straight into the park. So let's say the MK opens at 8:00am and you arrive at 7:30, they are going to take straight you into the park? But if you arrive at 6:50 they are going to let you off at the monorail???? Do I have it right?? It's kind of hard to write this down without probably getting everyone else confused!! :confused3

This is confusing, but I don't think you have it right.

"...if you arrived at the park..." How are you arriving? by WDW bus?

The WDW bus will drop you off in front of MK, even first thing in the morning. There are early mroning busses for the character breakfasts. For MK, these busses start before 7AM and will dropyou off right at the MK.

Bottom line is that ALL WDW buses take you directly to the MK entrance. You do not need to take a boat or monorail. The buses drop you off a short walk from the turnstiles regardless of what time it is. If the MK is not yet opened for the day you can go through security and through the turnstiles but you will be held up at the train station. You will not be allowed to enter Main Street until the park is officially opened unless you have a dining reservation before park opening.
I might add that the breakfast buses will sometimes drop you off at the resort where your breakfast is taking place. If the driver has time he/she will drop you off at the Contemporary for Chef Mickey's if you tell the driver you are going there. Otherwise you get off at the MK and either walk or monorail over to the Contemporary.

Yes, it can be confusing. But, the only people this should apply to are those who are not staying at a WDW resort. They have to park their cars at the TTC and then take either the ferry or the park monorail to MK. Those who are using the WDW buses are dropped off right at the entrance to MK (more or less), but you then just walk to the turnstiles from the bus area.

Most people would agree that even those who use their cars while at WDW take the bus to MK. It's just too much hassle to have to park your car at TTC and then take other transport to the park. So, take the bus to MK and your car to the other parks if that's your pref.

Thank you for clearing that up everyone!

We do have CRT at 8:20 our first day in MK, so we will hop the early breakfast bus there (staying at SSR). Thanks!!!
