Question about Disney Dining

If you have a party of five and are using your Dining Plan at a table service restaurant (not a buffett), can you use like 3 of the vouchers then and two another time? Do you have to use all five at that seating? We have to purchase an adult menu for our 11 year old who doesn't eat as much as they are going to offer and then a 3 year old that usually eats off of our plate. I was just thinking we could use our vouchers a little more spread out this way. I don't think I have ever been able to eat an appetizer, entree then a dessert. Thanks in advance.

Even paying out of pocket, you'll need to pay adult price for the 11 yo and child price for the 3 yo at a buffet, I don't personally see a lot of benefit to the strategy.

Dining credits are pooled on your room key. You can pay out of pocket for some meals and use credits for other meals when ordering. Just tell your server in advance. If you do this, you can use the credit at another time. Also on the card there is no distinguishing between adult credits and child credits. There is a huge debate as to whether it is ethical to use child credits for adult meals, but in reality Disney does not differentiate on the card. If your child is not hungry you can use the credit later.

Oops, I misread the OP as wanting to do that at a buffet. Yes, for a regular table service meal, it would probably be to your advantage.

As this is more a Dining Plan question than DVC, I'll move this to the restaurant board where folks with more experience with the plan can add to the discussion.
