Hi all,

Am hoping to book DC for our trip starting May 29th for 2 weeks. I have a slight problem, DD fractured her wrist 2 weeks ago, the cast is due off on the 23rd May. Hopefully it won't need to be recasted but if it does, does anyone know if she will still be able to do the dolphin swim with her arm in a cast. Obviously i would get a waterproof protector for the cast. I have e mailed DC and as yet have not had a response. Thanks in advance.

There is a lot of interaction with dolpin in water, petting kissing etc, and stroking, im guessing she could do that but they wouldnt allow her to do the bit where you go for a ride or swim holding onto dolphins fins.

It depends on there insurance i suppose:confused3 ...hope its all ok x
:)

I'd probably phone DC direct. We phoned them last month to book our tickets for August. You'll be able to get a direct answer. Their number is 001 407 370 1280.

We've booked the birthday package for our DS who will celebrating his 6th birthday when we are scheduled to visit DC. He and my step daughter don't know they're going to be swimming with dolphins. (DH and I are so excited!) The dolphin will swim to DS with a buoy with a birthday message written on it. Plus we get a birthday cake and he gets his dolphin photo.

Hope the injury is recovered in time.:thumbsup2

Why not call them on their freephone UK number?

In the United Kingdom, call Toll-Free: 00800 33 44 1818

I called them to book Trainer For A Day 2 years ago and they were very helpful.

Sorry to go off the subject but is it cheaper to book direct with DC than via the tour operator? Have a great time and please let us know what it was like.:thumbsup2

Thanks guys! Was just about to ring them and they sent me a reply to my e mail! They have said DD can do the swim even if her arm is in the cast as long as she has the waterproof protector on! I'm well pleased with that, although i hope the cast will be off!!

Congrats! Hope you have a great time, ad make sure to let us know all about it ;)

DC is something I think I will save for next time (well...I need to find some excuse to go back :rolleyes1 )

Thanks for the update :)

As for booking it can be cheaper direct or via an agent depending on what offers are on when you look to book! Sorry to be so vague but it really is a case of checking several places that sell DC as well as direct with DC. Most places that sell WDW and SeaWorld tickets also do DC.

She will need to be able to grip tightly onto the dolphin's fin because it does pelt away at quite a speed, so she will need to be able to use two hands.

When I did my swim in Oct '04, one of the other people in our group had a broken arm. They provided him with this big blue thing thats really hard to describe but it basically is a high tech plastic bag which protects the cast in the water. He was a fully grown man and was still able to do the swim.

They do say that if the dolphin itself thinks that it is not safe, then it will not take you for the swim part, but they had only seen our particular dolphin (Leicester) refuse one person and that was a young child that it thought was too small.
