ok this may seem like a stupid question but I have to ask or I'll never know...

This will be my 2nd time to Disney, first was when I was 11 so this is almost like my first time all over again, it will also by me DH and DS's (7) first time. I've been hearing about Chef Mickey's, Boma (among other places) and character meals that sound great but I have no idea where these are and how we go about getting to them!??! We stayed offsite back in 1990 and will be staying offsite again this time. Are those certain restaurants only for resort guests? Can we do any character meals?

Thanks in advance :)

disney restaurants are opened to all guests. You do not have to be a resort guest to eat at a resort but of course if you want to eat in the parks you need park admission. Chef Mickeys is in the Contemporary so if you are in the Magic Kingdom for that day you would just take the monorail over to the contemporary. Boma is in AK so in your case, because you are not staying onsite I would just drive directly there. I would suggest that you make PS's (priority seating) to the restauraunts you want to go to especially the character breakfasts. They have character breakfasts in many different places so it's a matter of choosing which is most convienient or most appealing to you. Right here on the Dis you can get some info on the character breakfasts, just go to the top of the page (on the main Dis boards page) and all the way to the left you will see "Dis Home Page" click that and then look for dining (will be in the left column) click that and from there it will give you the toll free number to call to make PS's and just below that it will say "Dining for Kids", just click on the "character dining" and that will give you the list of options. Good Luck and BTW New Yorkers are incapable of asking stupid questions!!:wave2:

Try going to http://www.allearsnet.com/ and check out the menus. Not only will you see be able to see menus from the different restaurants on site, but it will also show where the restaurants are located.

Thank you all so much! I felt like such a doofus not knowing these things already!

A little tip:
If you are planning on going to a character meal, popular restaurant or during a holiday period it is is best to make Priority Seatings (kind of like resv.) before you arrive.

Popular Restaurants Include:
CAl Grill, WC, Ohana, Narcoossees, Cape May, Le Cellier, Sci Fi, 50s PT

Dinner shows: HDD & luau
