Question about dining with my 2yr old

Hey everyone,

We have 7 months to go until our trip and we are focusing on planning our meals / ADRs this week and next as our 180-day window will soon open up!

There are 9 in our party - 3 kids (ages 3,5 and my son will be 2) and 6 adults.

My question is about my 2yr old son, Toby. Am I mistaken or does he eat free - well eat off our plates free? All menus etc. seem to say 3-9 yrs old! Also, the notes on CRT (which I HOPE we get an ADR for!) says 3-9 yr olds get a "free gift" (presumably the wands etc...) my son would feel very sad if his cousins got something and he didn't!

So do we order off the regular kids menu for him or does he eat off our plates? To be honest he has a pretty good appetite - so we would be totally happy to pay for him to have his own meal.

I just don't have a clue what to do and I am only worrying as the menus etc. all say the age is 3-9 (I assume they say that a lot for reference to the older kids?!)

Sorry I am not making a lot of sense. I am not having a good day :sad2:

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Your two year old eats free off your plate. Yes. You won't be charged for him at buffets. And if you want, you can pay for a meal for him.

While strictly-speaking, he's not entitled to the "free gift" at CRT, I think it is relatively unlikely that they'll refuse to give him a wand/sword. As always, in cases where something is not explicitly guaranteed, be prepared to accept and deal with either result.

When we went with our grandkids, we did do a few more buffets because of their ages. We did have a two year old and he ate off our plate too.....But we did order meals for him in some of the locations because we knew that he would eat more...Hope that helps too

Great - thank you both SO much - just what I needed to hear and I feel much happier now!!!

Best wishes,
Julie

Julie- when we took our daughter who was 18 months this past May- almost all the restaurant we went to brought her a small meal for free, a drink for free, and/or let her have her own plate at a buffet no problem. She did get a wand at CRT- so your son will for sure get the sword, unless they have changed this

We ate at:

CRT- They brought her buttered noodles, a drink and free desert

Ohana- they brought both of my kids (4 and 1) a huge platter of nuggets and fries, gave my 1 yr old a drink and her own dessert

Le Cellier- cant remember what she got- or if she just shared with my son

Chef Mickey, Crystal Palace, Boma- she got her own plate/drink free

Thank you Allison! :thumbsup2

This is very helpful and I am so glad I asked as I feel loads better now and know I don't need to worry!

We'll be booking a few buffets too - so great to know he can have his own plate and fill his boots on cheesy pasta (mac'n'cheese!)

At the a la carte TS places, he can eat off everyone's plates, or you can pay for a children's meal for him.

At buffets, his meal and his drink will be free.

At places like CRT, they will still give him the gift, and they will bring him a smaller, modified version of the child's plate. At CRT breakfast, we were given a wand for dd2, and she was brought french toast sticks. The other kids had eggs and bacon.

My son first Disney trip was the age of 2. He ate at all the buffets free (he got his own plate and chocolate milk...so they will provide any type of drink you son would like). We took him to CRT and they provide him his own plate of food and he got a sword (they gave it to him and they gave me a wishing star). When we went to some signature dinners, I ordered him his own food and a few times they never charged us (they said its was a pixie dust since it was his first trip so I'm not sure if they did that often but it happened to 4 dinner meals we had so I gave extra tip since the server never charged us for his drink, meal and dessert).
I did share a few lunches with him.
Have a magical trip

Your son will eat off your plate at any of your meals except CRT, there he will get a plate of his own for free. It is a smaller portion but perfect size plus they serve fruit & rolls before meal(at the breakfast's, we have never done lunch or dinner). He will get a sword and a wishing star as his "magical gift" while girls get a wand & wishing star. They have always given our girls a gift and we have never had to ask. Disney does take care of there little ones.
Have a magical trip!
