Question about DHS and Hollywood & Vine breakfast

Hi
I apologize if this is the wrong place to post so feel free to move this to the right place. I have never been to DHS and just added a day there to our January 2012 trip. I got an 830 am breakfast ADR at Hollywood & Vine. Nothing earlier available. I have 2 toddlers so I will want to leave breakfast at 900 am park opening and get FP for TSM.

How far is it from the breakfast to TSM FP station? Just have no idea how big this park is and don't want to miss the entire breakfast!

It's a 1 day on the crowd calendar so if I stayed for breakfast and got TSM FP at 930, any idea what my return time would be? My kids take late afternoon naps so I don't think we will be in the park past 2 pm.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated!

IMO, not the best plan. You would have to be out of the restaurant considerably before 9 to have a chance of not waiting in a huge line to get your TSM FP. And if you don't do that, and get caught in the mad crowd waiting in line for the FPs, you might not get done getting your FP until 9:30.

8:30 is just not a good breakfast time for that FP plan. I would either schedule a later breakfast and do it after doing some touring, or else plan on just getting your FP right after breakfast and working with whatever time you get.

We had an 8:20 ADR for H&V last week.

We did the JTA signup and then headed right to TSM for FPs after we finished JTA sign up, so we got over there around 9:15 or so. While the FP line was long, it only took 10 minutes or so to get up to the FP machines. Our return time was just before noon. All the FPs were gone by the time we went back to actually ride TSM, so they definitely should be obtained as early as possible.

DHS is a small park. It only takes a couple of minutes to get from H&V to TSM.

What I would suggest is just having one parent eat quickly (very doable, since H&V is a buffet) go to TSM to get the FPs, leaving the other parent to eat leisurely with the kids. Only one person needs to go to get the FPs. The H&V breakfast is very entertaining (lots of singing and dancing) and breakfast can stretch on for a long time.

jtown - good to have a first hand report, which obviously contradicts my thoughts - but I have a question - did you finish breakfast before doing the JTA signup / FP run? That's how I interpreted that - maybe finished with breakfast at 9 AM? What you did wasn't clear to me - it sounded different than what you said at the end about having a FP runner?

Only asking for my own education since people ask this frequently!

I left my kids with my mom while I ran out to get fast passes. I left the breakfast 10 minutes before 9:00 and it took another 10 to get the fast passes. If you don't finish your meal before rope drop you could always continue after. There's a show every 20 minutes so the kids will be entertained while you eat :)
