Question about Dessert Party Transportation

:goodvibes Hello all! I'm a long time lurker, I love everyone’s posts and I love reading the planning journals, although I never took the time to make one myself. I appreciate all the ideas I've gotten from everyone!

I finally have a question of my own! We're hosting a 'Welcome Party/Rehearsal Dessert Party' (minus any actual rehearsal!) the night before our wedding and I'm trying to figure out transportation. Most of our family will have park hoppers and will be in the parks already so we were going to tell them to meet at our location (Morocco Oasis) at 7:55 so we can allow them maximum time in the park. However, we have a few stragglers that will not be in the park and we don't know how to best tell them to meet at International Gateway since they cannot walk through the park. My DF seems to think you can take a boat from Tickets & Transportation to IG, but I never remember seeing this and wasn't sure if this was an option. We will be staying at the Boardwalk Villas (and our wedding is the following day at SBP/The Attic) and I wasn't sure if it was possible to tell those without tickets to meet us at the Boardwalk and we can walk over as a group. Those without tix will all have cars so we will not be providing a bus.

Does anyone have any tips or ideas from their own weddings?

Thanks so much everyone!

Welcome out of lurkdom! :wave2:

They would be met at IG by an event guide who will lead them to Morocco.

The waterways of the Magic Kingdom/TTC area do not connect to the Epcot-area waterways, so this is not possible.

That sounds like a good idea because then those unfamiliar with WDW won't have to deal with the hassle of getting to the IG on their own (which requires a bus change). Your whole group would then meet the event guide and walk in. It is a bit of a walk, though, by the time you factor in walking to the IG and from the IG to Morocco, so you might consider leaving time to take a boat to the IG if members of your group aren't up for it.

Thank you so much Carrie! We decided to ask people to meet us at 7:00 at the Boardwalk to take a boat over.

I loved your wedding, your pictures made me want to pick The Attic!

Hey, thanks! I looooooooooooooooooooove the Attic. Wait til you see the shiny floors!

We walk over from the BWV all the time, I don't think it's a far walk at all. If you have elderly people that can't walk far I'd take a boat, but I think taking the boat takes more time than walking. haha We had our wedding on Shipwreck Beach and they walked from there to SBP for cocktail hour then over to the BW for the reception and not one person complained the walk was far (farther than BW to the IG):goodvibes

Thanks Tricia! It looks like everyone that will be meeting us is very able bodied and after looking at Bing Maps, I believe we will be walking as well!

And I LOVED your trip report, I lurk but never posted. I loved your wedding on the DFTW blog as well! The pictures were amazing!

we had a similar issue, and our event guide is actually meeting our guests at the front entrance of Epcot, instead of the international gateway. we felt it would be too confusing for those who have never been to explain how they should get to IG, and our planner instead set it up so that they will meet the event guide at the front entrance.

We were told in order to have a dessert party at Morocco that we could not meet a guide at IG and be walked in... They told us we had to be transported back stage... We just received our BEO and the are charging us over $500 for that... Any cheaper options?

that's odd - what's different about the Morocco location that would require that?

I know for the actual wedding party in my case, those of us coming from the rehearsal, we'll be coming in backstage, but i had no trouble setting up an event guide to meet our guests at the front entrance of Epcot to walk them back. Our DP is in the UK - the lochside location.

I know that for UK they dont require transportation because it is closer to IG than Morocco. I was told Morocco is too far away from IG to have a walking guide. But yet we have a walking guide meet us at American Adventure to walk us from backstage to Morocco... UGH makes me so mad... Just another way for Disney to make money.
