Question about designing and Amy Mickey...

I have tried to contact Amy through her website email, but the email got sent right back to me and then I tried to send her a pm here, but I guess my post count isn't high enough (I am a brand new member) so I will just make a post and hope that someone will help me!! LOL

Since the email address on her site doesn't seem to be correct, I am wondering if I can still order the iron-on transfers through her website?

Also, I am trying to make my own design, I do a lot of digital scrapbooking through a program I use (not any adobe program, I use Microsoft Digital Image Suite 10, that's what I've always used) but I am wondering if I need to keep in mind anything special when designing the image? I am planning on making an 8x10 image, is that about the right size for a shirt? I should probably make it smaller for my children..I am concerned about the white space that I can't fill (like around the text and such) I haven't figured out how to make the background transparent but oh well. Just wondering if it will print exactly as I design it, or if I need to design it backwards or something? Thank you!

The white has more to do with the transfer paper itself than it does the way you design. If you use dark transfer paper, the paper itself is white and any area that is white (or lacks color - transparent) will be white. Picture it like printing your design to a white sheet of paper.

If you print the design to a light transfer, all areas that are white (or lack color) will be clear. No printer can print white. If you place the design on a white shirt, than all white areas will indeed be white. If you place the design on a colored shirts, red for example, than all white areas (or anything that lacks color) will be red.

My transfers are dark transfers, so the sheet itself is white. So the design will print as you see on your screen and all white areas (or lack of color) will be white. Any white that you do not want on your shirt will need to trimmed off.

Did all that make sense? If you have any additional questions, do not hesitate to ask.

Also, for my transfers, you do not need to flip the design. Just print it as you wish to see it on the shirt.

I have had nothing but great results from Amy's transfers and Amy. She helped me out when I was in a bind and needed transfers fast! It does take some time to cut around the white if you use the dark transfer, but the time is well worth the finished product when you are done!!!
