Question About Deluxe Dining and Not Everyone Using Credits at Meal

We are considering purchasing the Deluxe Dining Plan for our upcoming trip. With the new rules we are hoping to split it with my parents who will be in a separate room. We will be dining together the entire trip. It seems by doing this we would come out ahead on the plan, but my question is to whether everyone at that table would have to use meal entitlements or could we pay OOP for someone and use credits for the others? My daughter eats like a bird, but is considered an adult. She is 11. I know she will need to pay as an adult at buffets, but I am wondering about paying OOP for her when we can order from a menu. She will never eat a full meal with appetizer and dessert. I would actually be able to share with her and have more then enough food, I just wasn't sure what the servers would do. We share at home all the time because I am also not a big eater. Thanks for any advice you can give!

I didn't figure they would allow sharing but, how about paying OOP for her? That was what I originally was planning on doing.

Yes, you can do what you described in your OP. You can pay OOP for your daughter or just share with her at 99% of the restaurants at WDW. If Via Napoli is on your list, they will not let you share, and there may be one or two others, but they are not as consistent as VN is on not allowing it.

As I said, 99% of the restaurants WILL allow you to share without buying anything OOP.

Thank you for your reply. Is it confirmed that I can "pay" for my parents' dinners using my credits if we are not in the same room?

Others have reported back that they have done it with no problem, so you should be good to go.

Ignore the above "advice." With two or three exceptions, you can absolutely share while on the dining plan.

I was told by a cast member that you are not allowed to share ts meals when on the dining plan. It's worth trying. It could depend on the restaurant or waiter you get.

Have you recently shared a meal on the dining plan? My experience was that I was not allowed to and I was told you are not allowed to share when on the dining plan. Telling op to ignore the above "advice" when my experience could also happen to her, is not helpful either.

Making a blanket statement without providing any meaningful detail is not helpful.

Where were you told that you could not share? Via Napoli will not allow sharing, and the same may be true for the other restaurant in Italy and one in Mexico. Obviously, you can't share any all-you-care-to-eat meal, including the skillet at Whispering Canyon Cafe. But by and large, sharing is absolutely allowed. So, either you got one cast member who didn't know what they were talking about, or you ate at one of the exceptions.

OP here. Can you please tell me what information is misinformation since I am wanting accurate information? Thank you!

The PP who said you cannot share. I am not discounting their experience, but the reality is, except for a few places, you CAN share and people do it all the time.

You can definitely use credits for part of your party and pay for others. We just came home from a trip and had two rooms. One room had six, including two kids, and was on the deluxe dining plan. The other had four disney adults. We shared credits the entire trip and almost always paid for the kids meals separately.

What surprised me the most was Via Napoli. We told them we wanted to use six credits for the meal, and then order a large pizza for the rest of our party, a total of ten. They allowed us to do this, and even told us that regardless of the fact our plan was 4 adults and 2 children that we could order any appetizer, entree, and desert for all of the six credits.
