Question about Delta Flyer Miles

I have a trip booked to Hawaii on my Mothers flyers miles because she wants DBF & I to go visit her there in March while she is on vacation in Maui. At first it sounded fun and I agreed, so she booked the flights. After much contemplation, I have decided I would much rather spend my vacation $ and time in Disney (again!)- I know you all understand. :goodvibes So here is my question- would the flights be transferrable or refundable? Am I being selfish? She is providing the flights and a place to stay, but I still need to rent a car and pay for everything else. I have never been to Hawaii and am afraid of being bored. Disney is way more my speed. Any advice would be appreciated.
BTW-DBF is really looking forward to Hawaii :stir:

The flights are not transferrable. She can put the miles back into her account for a $50 per ticket fee. I am a WDW addict, but I would take a free flight and hotel in Hawaii anyday!

As stated above she can return the miles to her account for a per ticket fee then pay the booking fee for new tickets.

Why on earth would you NOT want to go to Hawaii???

I have a friend who has a house there and if I had free airfare I would SO be there!

Go to Hawaii!!! How many chances will you get for that offer?? WDW will be there. Hey, I know....I'll take your place and you can go to WDW!!!!

Ok, ok! I know. Everyone thinks I'm crazy, but I am actually dreading this trip. I wish I never agreed. Last vacation I took with mom was to Disney World. She yelled at our waiter the 1st morning because she was just hungry and he dared to try to talk and joke with us rather than just take the order. :sad2: The $50 might be worth it, I just don't want to hurt her feelings. I was way too quick to agree, because on the surface it sounds so good.... then the reality set in. :scared1:

You will not be bored in Hawaii.
Chances are, this is the ONLY time you'll ever go - so go.
She's your mother.
She's an adult responsible for her own actions.
You're an adult responsible for YOUR own actions, not hers.
If she yells at someone, there's no reason for you to be embarrassed - YOU would and will continue to treat that person with respect.
I don't know how old you are, but for many of us - if our moms were still around, we'd jump on the chance to spend time with them (not criticizing, just making an observation).

And, finally, if you're absolutely dead-set on not going... I call first dibs on being Diane's travel companion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Be glad the tickets weren't on American. AA charges $100 for the first ticket and $25 for each additional ticket to put the miles back in the account.

Since you agreed to join your mom in Hawaii, I think you should go through with the trip. The flights and lodging in Hawaii are worth a lot more than a rental car and the "everything else." I also think you need to read some travel books or get info on the internet about Hawaii so you'll be more informed.

Changing your mind may end up hurting you more than it does her! For example - I invited my 2 college-age daughters to join me in California during their spring break last March for a weekend at Disneyland, followed by a 4-day Baja Mexico cruise. Just before final payment was due, younger daughter decided she didn't want to go, so she came home during spring break and did nothing! Older daughter and I had a great time, in spite of the COLD weather in Anaheim. I invited her to join me at WDW for the long Thanksgiving weekend next week because she is a fun travel companion. Younger daughter isn't getting any new invites to travel with me for quite some time!

Actually - since the flights are in the names of you and your boyfriend, you could make a change to the routing, assuming there are FF seats available to go to Florida, and you would pay the per ticket change fee. However, I'm pretty sure a ticket to Hawaii uses more miles than a ticket to Florida, so you would be wasting the difference in miles.

Again, if this had been on American, it would be cheaper to redeposit the miles for $125 ($100 + $25) than to pay the change fee on two tickets at $100 each.

Well, don't you think calling her up and going "I don't want a free trip with you" is going to hurt her feelings?

(And while I have no desire to go to Hawaii, I would like to point out that if ALL your vacations are at Disney, it's time to see some more of the world. I love Disney, but there are LOTS of other great things in the world to explore. Get on the plane and go!)

Ditto!

Another vote for Hawaii.
