Question about DDP and split-stay

I've been avidly reading the threads, trying to make sure i 'get' the credit system and making sure I get it right for our split-stay. We are bringing 4 first-timers to Disney so while DH and I normally opt out of DDP, the general feeling of the group was having it would allow more 'exploring' with eating and less price watching when ordering.

That said, I would love anyone to correct me if the following is inaccurate:

We are staying 6 nights total, three nights each hotel. So on DDP we get 6TS, 6QS, 6Snack each, split 3/3/3 and 3/3/3.

The day we check out, and check in to the next hotel, can we use from BOTH sets of credits? I understand the first set of credits will expire at midnight the day we checked out, but will the new credits start when we check in to the second hotel? Should we wait to check in until we deplete the leftover credits from the first part of the trip? Or do all the credits go into the 'pool' after we check into the second hotel and any from the first part of the say just have an expiration sooner than the others.

Thanks for any insight and info!!!

You are correct as far as when the credits expire and become active.

When you check into the 2nd resort, you'll get a new KTTW card. The credits from THAT stay will be on those cards, whereas the credits from the previous stay will be on the older KTTW cards. Most definitely use the old ones first!

As far as waiting to check it, it's up to you, it could get confusing, but you could just take a sharpie and mark which cards are the old ones (or you could simply look for the resort name on them too ;)).

The credits will not be combined into a general pool though, as they are attached to the specific resort reservation.

Resort names don't appear on the key cards (they're listed with a numerical code, but if you don't know which number applies to each resort it won't help you.) The only way to differentiate the cards is by the dates of stay printed on them.

Cafeen is correct. The credits from the two stays are separate, not pooled. Where this comes into effect is that you should be aware that 1) you will always need to use the old key card to access credits assigned to that stay and 2) at a 2 credit restaurant, you cannot combine one TS credit from the previous stay with one TS credit from the new stay.

Doh, my too laziness strikes again! (I have old ones in my wallet, and didn't bother looking... I just assumed... and we all know what happens then ;))

I'll reiterate the sharpie idea then! (Or stickers, because everyone loves stickers, just be sure to place them near the bottom, but not over any of the information... and make them as flat as possible... maybe the Sharpie is a better idea here... hmm...)

Thanks Nala :).

Many thanks for all the info!

I'm trying to make sure we have all the logistics figured out since we have the split stay and I definitely like the idea of putting a sticker or marking the first card -- that would be a really annoying mix-up
