Question about DDP and Paying

I am renting DVC Points (have done this before). We are on the DDP and it is added to our reservation and we pay for this when we check in. Here is my question. I know that changes to the DDP have to be done 72 hours in advance. Right now it is me, DH and DD and DS going. My DH will not know if he can go until maybe not until the day before. It all depends on the spring flooding here (he works at a Marina) and they are expecting major flooding. If that happens he will not be able to go. If he cannot go - will they still charge me for 4 people when we check in? We hope to know more in advance but not sure at this point as we can't control Mother Nature.

Not answering your question, because I don't know the answer - but just wanted to mention that if your reservation and DDP reservation was made by the member prior to mid-October, you can pay for the DDP at check-in as you said. If it was made after that date, it has to be paid when it is added to the reservation. So unsure what applied to you, but if you haven't added dining yet, it will have to be paid in advance.

My understanding is that nothing can be changed less than 48 hours before check-in (for DVC, it's 48 hours not 72), so I would guess you will be on the hook to pay for it, but I haven't heard of a specific example like yours - with someone on the reservation not coming.

Yes, the DDP is already added on - did that before the cut off date. This is a tricky one. My DVC lady I am renting from did not know either. Hopefully, we will know 48 hours prior and then it won't matter...

It would seem since there is a clear policy in place, then you could not "expect" them to refund any differnt than the policy states.

However, there are times when people have received a litlle pixie dust with a kind CM or manager and gotten things done for them that weren't promised.

So, Can you expect for them to accept your explanation and change the rules for you? Probably not...
Is it possible they will be nice and help you out? Maybe...

If he is not removed prior to the 48 hours, technically, you will be charged from him.

I don't know if the CM's at the front desk have the power to change that or not. As mentioned, if you can't get him removed from the reservation prior to the trip, plan on paying and hope that maybe something can be done.

Good luck!
