Question about DDE card

My DDE card expires before my AP does. I have not decided yet whether to renew the AP or not next year. Can I renew the DDE card before my AP expires and use it for the whole year, even if I then decide not to renew the AP?
From what I can find you must have a valid AP to purchase the DDE card, but I can't find anything to say you need one to use the DDE card. Just wondering if anyone else has done this.

You are correct. As long as you have a valid AP at the time you order a new (or renewal) card it will be issued. Normally if you contact the office after the 5th of a month it will be valid from then until the last day of the next month the following year.

For example, my card expires December 31, when I renew it (after December 5th) the card I receive will be valid until January 31, 2007.

thank you for asking!!! i am in the same situation, and figured that i'd just lose my DDE since I wasn't renewing my AP (stupid BRP screws everything up). i hadn't realized that my DDE exprires b4 my AP. more 20% coming my way

i have a question of my own: for our last trip, we had AP's and i got the DDE. our AP's expired in september. we didn't renew them because we couldn't afford them. they were a gift from disney for hosting our wedding there. if we go back to WDW next year, could we use the DDE?

As long as the DDE has not expired, you may use it.
