We have been watching the Tigger and Pooh show since January with my 2 year old. Well my husband always asks and I never have an answer who is Darby and what happened to Christopher Robin? Why must they always change what we grew up on?

New merchandising opportunity! :confused3

Funny story, my kids are past Playhouse Disney/etc age but we wanted to get Tigger's autograph at MK... my mom said "we can get Christopher Robin's too!"

I'm thinking Chris looked alot different from what I remembered- some little girl in front of us said somethign to her mom about "Look there is Darby" and a CM responded, yes, there she is.

We would have gone up and called her Christopher. ACK!

A search came up with this info on Darby:

Darby: A six-year-old girl who loves to solve mysteries with her dear friends in the Hundred Acre Wood, Darby brings a fresh face to the old classic. She is a modern day kid, and she even has her own pink scooter. Darby leads the Super Sleuths as they work to solve the mysteries that perplex the inhabitants of the Hundred Acre Wood.

I love Winnie and friends and I even like the Darby character. However, I do not really know why they couldn't have just modernized Christopher Robin. The last thing Disney needs is more girl characters and less boy characters:confused3

I could be totally off on this, but there was a huge, long-term kerfluffle with the Milne heirs and Disney. As far as I remember hearing, Disney kinda lost. So I would bet that Disney lost any rights to have CR, and therefore had to come up with Darby instead.

I could be wrong though.

I'm not sure who she is either, but I'm much more of a fan of the older Pooh cartoons than this one. I like that Lumpy's in the new ones, though. I do know that on our January WDW trip, we waited in line longer to get Darby's autograph than for any other ride or attraction the whole trip. DD just had to have it. So she much have lots of fans in the younger crowd.:)

I like Darby but I just wish CR was still there so it wouldn't confuse DD when ready books and Darby's not there. I also thought I would try to get an answer for my hubby who seems to ask me everytime he sits down to watch the show with DD

Do not get me started on Darby and my irrational hatred of her :rotfl2:

That's so funny - just the other day, my 9-year old niece was telling me that she doesn't mind watching Playhouse Disney - even thought it [/I]is[/I] for preschoolers (!), she can't stand watching the new Winnie the Pooh, because she hates Darby!:rotfl: And she is not the type of person that uses the hate word loosely. Not sure what it is, but the Darby girl sure does rub people the wrong way:confused3

Not everyone it seems though - my DD named her hamster Darby after her! Actually I have to confess that when I saw this thread I immediately wondered how someone else knew our hamster! :upsidedow

The episode was on this morning. Darby thinks she has turned Christopher Robin into a frog because a frog has on the bracelet she made CR (she was doing fairy spells). CR shows up later and mentions his missing frog and everything turns out wonderfully. However, they made no mention of the connection and in fact, it seemed, CR just walked out of one of the trees/houses that all the rest of them live in. It's like he always lives in the 100-acre woods.

Hmmm....

Interesting! I haven't watched todays show. We DVR it and Mickey mouse's clubhouse. DD is a strange 2 year old and likes to sleep in late so with the summer schedule we miss the shows :( I don't know what I would do without a DVR!

This might be totally wrong but I thought I remembered hearing before the show came out that Darby was CR younger sister- he was older now and in school and unable to "play" all day in the 100 acre wood? or something like that

Okay. I liked this theory and let it go. I was already onto another page when it hit me--CR has a British accent. Doesn't mean they're not related or even brother and sister. But, I'm just sayin'....

We just watched todays show and I noticed the same thing...CR has a British accent and Darby doesn't...more puzzling now

Has anyone seen Darby recently? I am heading to Disney in Oct and my son wants to see her. Let me know where and what is the best time. Thanks!
