Question about CRT

We are going to WDW in Aug on the DDP. When I make my ADR for CRT, are they going to have me pay the deposit for CRT then? Or do I tell them I'm with DDP and they will take the number just to make sure I show up?

They just take the number to hold your place. They don't actually charge your card. However, when we went in May, we told them were DDP and we never had our TS credits taken out, we had extra and booked two extra TS meals later. They ended up somehow charging our card instead but it worked out. Haven't heard about that happening to anyone else though.

Thanks a lot! We were deciding on the choice between 1900 Park Fare and CRT. We wanted to do CRT, but with car taxes coming up this week and us calling for CRT this week, we didn't want to dip into the savings account just for dinner reservations.

BTW, howdy, Goose Creek neighbor (was born in Charleston and lived in St. George the first 4-5 years of my life.)

No problem. I read "car taxes" and figured that you must be from the south. The Yankees don't do things like that. Dh and I both love Charleston!

We LOVED CRT. The ambience is wonderful. Enjoy!

Hey, I live in Charleston! Born and raised! Nice to see my neighbors on the board.

My credit card was charged the full amount for the meals at the time I made my ADR for CRT. For BBB they just took the number to hold the spot, but didn't charge me.

Same thing happened to us in Nov. We couldn't figure out what went wrong where the $200 on our debit/cc went. Then when we ended up with extra TS we figured it out. Disney fixed it for us though.

Interesting because what they told us on the phone was that it was to hold your spot. But we did end up getting charged once we had the meal. Enjoyed the other two TS's though.

I grew up in Charleston too -- how funny to find so many Charlestonians on the thread! I wish I was still there -- the yearly visits are not near often enough!

As far as CRT, when I made my reservation with the DxDDP they just took my credit card number as a guarantee.

My credit card was charged in full at booking. Since we have DDE, we got a gift card back at breakfast for the discounted amount.

Sometimes some CMs charge those on the DDP the full amount for CRT but it is a mistake to do so and if you call back and request a credit/refund, they will credit your CC.

They should only be taking the CC# as a hold so that if you do not cancel and do not show up they can charge your CC the full amount.

Those not on the dining plan are charged in full at the time they book CRT.

Last time I was in Charleston, it was for a conference at Kiawah Island for autism educators and pediatricians and before that, it was for a week-long Applied Behavior Analysis training. But before that, (in 2003), my sister-in-law and I spent a spa weekend at Charleston Place.

I called today to ask the question since so many people said something different. This is what I'm going to do: I'm planning for a late lunch (hopefully close to the time that Dreams Come True parade goes through and I'll have an easier time getting in). The CM I spoke to today told me that they are not supposed to charge the cc. So, I am going to make sure when I call that they do not charge the card. They aren't supposed to do it if you are on the DDP.
