Question about CRT, dining plan, and my credit card

I'm hoping someone else has had an experience with this. I have the dining plan, but my credit card has already been charged for my CRT reservation. I may have misunderstood, but I thought that my credit card number was just a guarantee to hold the reservation.

Does Disney refund the money after I eat at CRT and use dining credits? Or am I being erroneously charged? If it matters at all, I booked the reservation online.

My experience with booking CRT online is your cc is automatically charged. I have read reports that there is a way to connect your ressie with the DDP online and not get charged, but anytime I have tried that, it has said my cc will be charged at time of booking. I booked CRT for dinner for our December trip and my cc was just used as a guarantee and not charged (but I called to make the ADR).....then I cancelled dinner and booked breakfast (calling again) and again my cc was not charged. I think you will receive a credit once you go there and use DDP credits, but if you want the credit now, I think you can call and have them adjust it. Some people have reported they have done this and were credited right away :).

I had read somewhere that if you book CRT online, it won't link your DDP and your CC would get charged, so I called. The CM assured me that my CC was just to hold the reservation and wouldn't be charged. She did ask about my resort reservation, so I'm assuming that she saw that I had DDP. I would call and see if they will reverse the charge and link your DDP.

The online system is designed so that if you link your resort reservation with a dining plan, your card will only be entered as a cc guarantee. This worked without flaw for me on our prior 2 trips since they started online ADR's.

I thougth we were going in October this year and I linked our resort reservation and moved on through the process not expecting a problem because it had worked so well before. YIKES! I didn't pay close enough attention and I was charged. I called and they refunded, but it can take up to 2 months for this to happen.

Since then, we moved the trip to December. I tried to make the ADR online, linked the reservation again and it showed it was going to charge me so I called again. We decided to add a second trip to CRT this trip so I tried again, the same way, and this time it worked.

All I can say is that it seems very wonky. Shocking for a Disney website I know................ :lmao: Just watch very closely and call if you have to. And don't assume you're doing it wrong if it doesn't work.

If you don't want your credit card charged then you have to call to book. If you have already booked online then you can call and have the charges removed. Or you can wait til you get there to have charges removed.

Calling definitely works. But the online system is set up to do the CC guarantee instead of chargign you. It just doesn't always work for some reason. If you pay close attention, you will know if it's going to charge you before you hit the final submit button.

This is helpful to know if you are booking at 180 + 10 before 7 AM Eastern.
