Hi all,

We are looking for book a cruise for June 2023 and it'll be my first time on a cruise. I know this is over a year out and things will definitely change, but I'm wondering if anyone knows what disney cruise's protocol is if someone is tested positive DURING the cruise. I read up on other cruiselines and they move you to another room to quarantine and you stay there and get room service. I searched high and low on disney cruise's website and I find no information?

I thought people are only tested before they board the ship, how do people test positive during the trip? do they test every time you board the ship, even when they stop for port?

Also on a different note, does anyone know what cruise facilities are available at port, if we choose to stay on board? is the Oceaneer Lab or club available at port? We will be going on the alaska cruise on disney wonder.

Thanks in advance!

We've only had a few reports here and I've seen a few reports elsewhere. Based on that...

If you test positive for Covid-19 during the cruise, you will be moved to a different room and quarantined. Most reports indicate that the quarantine rooms are on deck 2. A recent report noted that deck 5 was used for quarantines. Previously, that part of deck 5 had been used for certain employees and contractors, but perhaps the situation's changed now.

While in quarantine, you'll be able to order room service and you can also have food delivered from the main dining rooms. You can't leave the room, though.

If you develop symptoms onboard, you're supposed to report to the medical center to be tested. When you sign all of those long, boring documents before boarding, you're agreeing to report symptoms.

Disney tests everyone before embarkation. They do not otherwise test unless you report symptoms, or if you're a close contact of someone who does. I don't know how they define close contact these days. It used to be anyone in your travel group, plus anyone in the same kid's club group as your kid, but they aren't doing those groups anymore. So, maybe it's just your travel party. I don't think anyone knows for sure.

Most activities on the cruise ship are available on port days, including the kids clubs.

You will receive daily messages through the app with a number to call if you experience symptoms. If you test positive you will be moved to a different stateroom

There is testing onboard if someone experiences symptoms. Also unvaccinated children are tested on the day prior to debarkation.

As others said, if positive a guest will be moved to a quarantine room. I believe fully vaccinated family members who do not test positive are allowed to remain in the original room, or given the option to quarantine with their family member.

Also on a different note, does anyone know what cruise facilities are available at port, if we choose to stay on board? is the Oceaneer Lab or club available at port? We will be going on the alaska cruise on disney wonder.
Most facilities will be available while the ship is in port, including the kids' programming (except at Castaway Cay, which isn't a concern for Alaskan cruisers), the movie theater, the spa and fitness area, coffee shops (Cove Cafe on all ships and Vista Cafe on the Dream/Fantasy), and the quick-service food places on the pool deck, including Cabanas. Typically, at least one of the main dining rooms will be open for lunch. The retail shops, however, are closed while in port and for a short time after departure from ports.

Why do I think my teen might choose not to quarantine me?! Hmmm
If it is just the 2 of you, he probably won't get a choice because an adult must still be available for minors. Likewise if a child tests positive, at least 1 adult must enter quarantine too. If only 1 adult with multiple children, unfortunately the whole party will quarantine.

Disney will force those who test positive and their entire party to walk the plank. One can never be too careful.

(Before I get flamed, I'm just trying to make light of a very serious subject. Of course I do care about this never ending pandemic)
