Hi all,

The Costco packages look like a pretty good deal, decent rates for the Anabella anyway, especially when you factor in other bennies...like the character dining vouchers. Based on searches here though I have a few questions for the experts.

It looks like you can use them for NON character CS meals as well, and that they would go a long way towards feeding a big family that way. For example if there are 5 of us, we could use an adult voucher at one meal, then another later, etc. I'm waiting for the catch. I see that to maximize your pennies you want to order at least the amount the voucher is for, since there's no change, but with 5 of us (2 adults, 2 teens, 1 younger kid) it seems like that would be easy. My kids don't care at all about premium character meals and would rather eat more cupcakes, sandwiches, etc.

So can we really say, order 22$ worth (the kid voucher price) at many locales around the park? Even places like the lovely bakery next to the Pooh ride? I read that the carts don't work but most other CS (counter service?) places work just fine.

Also, I was wondering if anyone knew if we'd get 2 adult and 3 kid vouchers, or 4 adult and 1 kid vouchers. As far as tickets go we are 4 and 1, but as far as the hotel goes we are 2 and 3. You list the ages of the kids on the res form but I don't know how that translates when you get the vouchers.

Thanks for any advice, so excited!

We have used the vouchers for regular table and counter service restaurants successfully many times for a party of three. Just ask before ordering to double check if they will take them. There are a few restrictions that are listed on the Costco website.

I am pretty certain that they give child vouchers and adult vouchers in accordance with the tickets associated with your package, i.e. 10 and up get an adult voucher.

Pooh's Corner is considered retail. But you should be able to use a voucher at Jolly Holiday.

Jolly Holiday et al will work marvelously. Seems like a great deal, esp for older kids.

Thanks again!

We booked through them.....wonderful so far.

There is a pic on our blog of unboxing the package @ saxtonfamily.weebly.com

You will not get change back. I don't think you would have a problem using them for their max value with a family of five...even at a CS place.

I read that the carts don't work but most other CS (counter service?) places work just fine. You can use them practically anywhere...even the carts. Just make sure you able to get your $$'s worth since they do no give you change back.

Also, I was wondering if anyone knew if we'd get 2 adult and 3 kid vouchers, or 4 adult and 1 kid vouchers. As far as tickets go we are 4 and 1, but as far as the hotel goes we are 2 and 3. At DLR, the child prices for tickets and dining start at 10 years old.

Have a great trip!

We also have a Costco pkg, but we are planning on doing Goofys Kitchen even if we are all adults! I guess I have to find out what the max amount the vouchers are for, because we are also planning on doing the WOC pkg @ Carthay for dinner, which is $59pp! Only 3 out of 5 of us are on the pkg, so since the other 2 (daughter & boyfriend) those would have to be paid OOP. Want to use the voucher to its max potential!

FYI - They cannot be used for WOC dining packages.

If you are doing GK for dinner, you might as well use the vouchers for that, as it will save you some money.

We always use our vouchers for CS meals as we aren't really big fans of the character meals. We've been able to get a lot of mileage out of them! One thing to note is that you can use the vouchers for tip as well. My kids are all over 10 so we have 5 adult vouchers, meaning $200+ worth of food! We can make that go pretty far.

We were going to use them for breakfast @ GK.. It's still considered a premium meal

In that case if you pay for GK out of pocket and use the vouchers for other meals, you will be ahead a little. That is what we did.

I think (& could be wrong), that although breakfast & dinner are both premium meals, the dinner costs more.

:thumbsup2 Yes. Using the voucher for dinner will save you a few dollars over paying out of pocket by the time you figure in tax and gratuity. For breakfast it won't.

I wonder if that BBQ in DL is more than a GK breakfast?

With the vouchers at GK, you save $.28 cents for dinner. You lose $7.10 if you use for breakfast. With children's prices (same for B&D) you lose $2.32.

The difference with BTMR BBQ is you can use the vouchers to cover the entire cost of the bill vs per person with a character meal. The BBQ is $21.99 for L and $24.99 for D. Children are $9.99.

Even for the vouchers from Costco? I didn't realize they were worth so little to use at the character meals. I wonder what the actual value is? Since they are part of our package, I have no idea. I am pretty sure they include tax & tip though. So maybe I should make us a reservation at BTMR BBQ since it seems that it would cover a good portion of our meal! We do want to do a character meal though, so that would have to be OOP then. We are talking about doing Surf's Up @ the PPH, which I understand has gone up in price to $30.99 pp, which is the same as Goofys! I'm not sure. We will talk about it!

This year they are worth $43 for an adult. Yes, they include tax and gratuity, which means you actually do save a couple of dollars when used for GK dinner or Ariel's lunch.
