Due to this resort being a convention resort as well, do the vacationing family types usually get the Ranchos and Cabanas? I assume the business people are getting most of the casitas rooms? Thanks Oh! Buzz you dont need to attach the photos and info on the resort I have seen them multiple

I'm not sure on this but I think those attending the conference are put more towards the conference center so it's an easier walk for them. I'm sure some may request certain areas if they don't want those rooms so a certain amount in each area may be blocked for them. You can always give them a call to find out:confused3

We stayed in Casitas and we were just regular vacationers.

Convention guests are spread throughout the resort, not just in the casitas.

Have stayed at CSR many, many times. The only time we ever saw "conventioneers" near rooms was in the Casita section. Could just be a coincidence though. The resort is beautiful and so very relaxing. Conventions (and have been there when more than one was being held) never interfered with my vacation and the "Disney Magic" never dissipated because of them!!:lmao:

Thanks for the input. It sounds like I have a chance at the casita section. It just looked awesome when I visited the resort a few years ago. :woohoo: I was staying at POR and took a ride over to CSR to check it out for my next trip.

We stayed at CSR last summer in a Cabana room. It was very convenient to the main building and the bus stop. It was a little walk to the main pool, but not too bad. We LOVED CSR!!!!

Dec '05 we requested and received a room in the Casitas section. When I booked the room I had the CM put a request in for preferably Casitas with Cabanas as #2 choice, and had her add we really did not want the Ranchos.

We requested Casitas when we stayed last March, but were assigned to Cabana 8B instead. I can't complain, though, because it's a great location that many people request. Very convenient to the main pool and the lobby.

Just FYI and it is probably personal preference, but we requested Casitas last time around and at check-in were assigned Ranchos--which we dreaded. But we LOVED Ranchos. The walk was literally a 5-10 min walk (with two little kiddos who dilly-dally!), and how pleasant that was to start and wind down our days. Ranchos was also super quiet (great at naptime) and the "quiet pool" was so quiet that our preschooler wanted to whisper in it:rotfl2: One more advantage of Ranchos was the proximity to the Bus Stop (don't remember if it was Bus Stop 2 or 3), 2 minute walk, tops.

Loved, loved, loved Ranchos, will heartily request it next time!!! So I hope you don't necessarily rule it out or think that you lost the lottery if you get it :thumbsup2

Either way, enjoy!

We would second the good opinion of Ranchos. Our TA recommended it. I was a bit skeptical because of the posts on this board. But we LOVED it! Super quiet. Close to the bus stop, nice quiet pool, laundry. We were very close to the main pool which was a priority for our children! The longest walk (?3-5 minutes) was to the front buildings which we didn't do often so the location was perfect!
