Question about Concierge Staterooms

I am boarding the Dream tomorrow. We currently have Oceanview Deluxe Family Stateroom (8C). I called the other day about upgrading to 4A or 4B but they are sold out. They did tell me that higher levels are available. So, I'm planning to ask about upgrading tomorrow when we embark.

Question - if I am able to upgrade to Concierge, what are some of the extra benefits? Also, what are the extra charges (gratuities) involved with this level?

Benefits: lounge, two happy hours per night, first access to any held back cabanas, BBB, spa, or adult dining reservations, first boarding, private character event, some extra room service access that varies depending on room category, priority debarkation, more free internet, lithograph, and general added help.

There are no official extra gratuities, but most people add in extra tips to the hosts and the lounge staff. Those amounts vary wildly depending on use of services, budget, and general tipping philosophy.

Benefits: priority check-in, concierge lounge (w/ nightly pre-dinner drinks and eats, private sundeck), slightly larger rooms, 2 tv's in the room, DVD player. Also, if you have a need, you ask the concierge and don't have to use guest services (tours, meet and greet tickets). No extra gratuity is charged, but its customary to give the concierge staff a tip (envelope provided).

I'm not 100% sure this is true in all Cat V on the Dream. Maybe since dry dock, but it was not true last summer.

Yeah. I think this is only on the Fantasy, except for 12004 and 12504, which have extra TVs since they are the connecting room for Cat R.

Okay I'm traveling alone with DD (6 yrs old) so I was curious if there was any real benefit as a single parent (husband had to cancel last minute due to stomach bug).

The lounge. Food *right there* for a lot of the day. Disney cartoons playing in there. A place to feel like you belong.

The rooms are beautiful (different look than regular rooms).

Poor DH. :(

YES.

Come to think of it, we did have 12504 on the Fantasy, and did have two tv's. Cat T on the Dream have three tv's!

In addition to the things mentioned here....more room and you don't feel cramped in the hallways. The tapas style goodies in the lounge are really nice and the private sundeck now has a hot tub and more shade. The forward elevators are less crowed as well. DH loves the easy early boarding, room is ready early, and you get your luggage faster.

When did they install the hot tub? Don't remember it there last time we were on the Dream (2013). Glad to hear about more shade in the Concierge sundeck. I might have to disagree about the faster luggage delivery. Last year on the Fantasy, we received the last piece of our luggage after 4:45. Boy was my wife pi#@ed off.

It was added during the 2015 dry dock. There are pictures but for the life of me I can't find them. Tried using the search...no good. Perhaps someone can dig them up.

That explains why I did not see it in 2013:). It was a smart move to add a "water feature" to the concierge sundeck. Now if they would only add a 24 hour open bar!:drinking:

I haven't experienced the room being ready any earlier than normal, and have not had noticeably earlier delivery of luggage than on our 2 non-concierge Dream cruises.
The last 2 Dream cruises we got at the Port by 10 am, checked in at the Concierge desk, by 10:45 we were on the ship. Checked in at the lounge and went over our itinerary and by that time our room was ready. Got our luggage after lunch at Cabanas. Possibly because we drive over.

Just off the Dream today. Enjoyed a Cat V (12522) and can confirm only one TV in the room.
