We will be at Disney from Dec 28th - January 8th. We will have Universal season passes, and would love to see the parks decorated for Christmas. Does anyone know how long the Christmas decorations/parade lasts? We would prefer not to visit the week in between Christmas and New Years, but the 1st week of January. Thanks for the help.

The Christmas festivities run from the first weekend of December until January 1st...then they start coming down.

In years past they come down and all festivities stop Jan 1st or 2nd. And define "Season Pass" do you have the Power Pass, the Preferred or the Premiere? It makes a difference as the Power Pass has blackout dates and you wouldn't be able to go if you wanted to the week in between Christmas and New Years.

That's also like, the busiest week of the year at Universal.

Thanks for the answers. Yes, we have the regular annual pass with no black-out dates. I realize the week in between Christmas and New Year's is the busiest week of the year - I was hoping to avoid that week and still get to see the Christmas decorations at Universal. We are DVC and are staying for 10 or 11 nights at Disney - Dec 28th or 29th thru January 8th. My boys have the first week of January off from school. Looks like we will just have to be there on the 1st!

Going to hijack the topic a bit and ask a few more questions.
Ive been to universal/ioa several times but never during special events like Christmas time, Halloween, etc. I was there a few times during Mardi Gras but didnt attend the events.

What is going on around Universal? What is going on at IOA? I know about grinchmas.. but what else?

Grinchmas is staged at IOA (last year it was on a sound stage at the Studios) and the Macy's Parade is staged at the Studios. Port of Entry and the Studios are beautifully decorated for the holiday season.
