We are traveling with a 5 and 7 year old both are over the 40" height restriction to ride Tower of Terror. Has anyone ever taken a 5 year old on TOT and how did it work out???

I took my 3.5 yr old on it last year. He begged & begged to go on it.
Since he met the requirement & I told him all about the ride (dark, the drop, etc) and he STILL wanted to go on it.
I decided what the heck

He did wonderful during the ride.

We got off the ride & he was very proud. He even was telling people he went on ToT but when I asked him if he wants to go on it again & quickly siad "no way"

We will be going to WDW in 18 days. I asked him if he wants to try ToT again. He told me "One time is enough, Mom"

So this time ToT is out for him :)

I say if your kids want to try it, let them.
If they don't want to ride it again, they don't have too

My son first rode ToT when he was 3 1/2. He liked it, although he was a little scared. The next few trips he enjoyed it, then two years ago when he was 5YO he was scared to death and told me afterwards that when he grew up and had kids they would have to ride by themselves because he was never riding again! Since then he still rides, but I still cannot figure out what scared him so badly. My 4YO daughter rode for the first time this year, and pronounced it "only a little scary". Take them throught the queue and let them decide for themselves. My bet is your 5YO will be OK.

Our DD went when on TOT she was 4. We told her all about it and I did have some reservations, but she said she wanted to go and she clearly met the height requirements, so we said o.k.
She had this look of shock of her face when it was over and we had to almost pry her hands off of the lap bar. We didn't think she liked it. Well, we went out to meet DIL's to do the baby swap (w/ DS) and DMIL ask DD, "do you want to ride it w/ us?", DD got the biggest grin on her face and said "YES". She went on it again w/ them. After that ride she said she had had enough.

She was ready to go again when we went last year. She rode it every chance she got. (Although, she was 7 at that time.)

I say if the kids want to go and they meet the requirements, let them give it a try. DD also went on the Loch Ness Monster and Big Bad Wolf at Busch Gardens Wmsburg when she was 4. (also by her choice-they are big roller coasters) She didn't like either one of those and I thought she would never ride a thrill again, but that has not been the case. This last trip she rode RNR several times and loved it.

I was so glad she wasn't scared for life! :sunny:

My 4yo went on it 5 times during our trip in February. I would have been happy if he had of done it once and my sister and I were planning on doing the baby swap, but Jake never wanted to be left behind. He liked seeing his ride photo so we kept telling him that we had to go again to try and get a better picture. He wasn't scared by the spookiness at all and also liked the drops.

Before leaving home we'd talked about the ride (it's my favorite) and I showed him a ride photo with my sister and me, so he understood a little about what the ride was all about.

His older brother went at 4yo, also, but once was enough for him.

the same thing hapened w/ me but with dd:Pinkbounc :bounce:

My then 8yo son rode once with his 22 yo nephew and would not ride again. Two years later my now 7yo other son rode three times with same nephew, laughing all the way. The son who had been 8 is now 10. He would not ride the first time with his little brother and cousin, but was shamed into it on the second and third time and decided he did like it. Just depends on your kids. They'll let you know. My DH and I don't ride. DH did it the one time with our then 8yo and hated it, too. I've walked through just to see the sights but stomach drops are not my thing. I bet if parents like it, it helps the kids' attitudes.

Our DD was 5 last year when we rode ToT for the first time. She insisted on riding and was terrified to the point of crying when she got off and ran to my mother who was waiting for us. DD has already said there is "NO WAY" she is riding when we go in two weeks!

It really depends on the child and in this case I guess I'm a big baby too because I ain't ridin' it again either!

I think since every kid is different. I would let your child decide. If at any time they want to back out, then save it for next trip.

My DD rode for the first time when she was 4...and loved it. Over New Year's, she rode RNRRC for the first time. She had just turned six and barely met the height requirements. Now she likes to ride ToT and then RNRRC and then back to ToT!!!! I'm having trouble keeping up with her, lol! She also loves Mission Space.
