Okay, I don't have kids so I have never bothered to understand the child swap, but I am going to DLR this Feb with my sister and her three kids. I know all of us want to ride Soarin' which is, I believe, a child-swap ride. So DSis and two kids go on and I wait with toddler who is too short to ride. Then I swap and ride. But do my niece and nephew ride again with me, or do I ride alone?

I know that at least one person can go on with the second adult rider, and I believe it's actually 2 other people, so I BELIEVE that your niece and nephew can indeed ride twice in a row. :)

I remember once I swapped my child with another guest, and you know their child was so wonderful and great, that I decided to make the trade permanently! ;) he he!

Gisele you goober :rotfl:

In seriousness I think it is 2 guests as well. I am sure they'll let you know but I doubt they'd say no. Have a good trip! :goodvibes

When you say that Soarin' is a ride you can do this on; does that imply that there are some rides you can and some you can't? Is there is some sort of list for me of which rides you can do this on? We will be needing this information in the Spring and I do not know how to go about doing it at all. Do you tell the CM when you get to the front of the line? Thanks!

You can do a child swap on any ride that has a height restriction. You let the CM at the ride entrance know that you will be doing a child swap and they will give you a child swap pass and tell you where to use it when the first adult returns from the ride. Sometimes the CM needs to "see" the child, others don't care. :)

Does anyone know if it is possible to do the child swap with 4 adults?? Like if two of us went on Screamin' and two stayed with the kids, could we do a child swap?? Or would the second two just have to get in the normal line when the first two got back?? From the heights of my kids now, I think the only rides that we would want to go on that they can't ride will be Indy and Screamin'. I can miss Indy if need be (i.e. line really long) but I have to be able to do Screamin'. I just don't want to get to Screamin' and have a 30-40 min wait (or more) and have to spend an hour (or more) for one ride. So, does anyone know for sure what we would be able to do????

It has always been you and just 1 other person for child swap when I have used it. But make sure to fastpass the ride also, with the toddlers ticket, too and you can double the times you get to ride. Fastpass machines don't care if there are height restrictions so you can get a fastpass for every ticket even if not everyone will ride the ride.

We did this on our last 2 trips to DLR. We had more adults than children and split up in couples. One couple would get the child swap pass and the other couple would wait with the kids. Every CM that we got the pass from needed to see our kids to issue the pass. When the first couple was done with the ride they would hang with the kiddos while the other couple rode.

Get a fastpass - go to the fastpass entrance - get a child swap pass - use the fastpass - return to the kids - switch places with the other couple - they go through the fastpass line with child swap pass - repeat as necessary!

If you can use the fastpass and the child swap pass you can double the amount of times you can ride. Because if you have 6 fastpasses and only use 2 plus the child swap pass 4 people have used only 2 fastpasses and you can do it again.

Clear as mud?? It works, really, I promise! :)

It took me a minute to actually figure that out....lol. But I get it now and that is pretty cool. Kudos to you for figuring that out! The last time we were at DL, we did have our DD but she was only 16 months and we also had my grandma who doesn't really ride so she sat with DD while the rest of us rode. This time it is just me, DH, DD, DS, my mom and my dad and we all ride everything!

Just some more comments on this since we've done this our last two trips now...

The baby swap pass is supposed to be good for a total of TWO people and it says so on the pass. But dh and I would take turns going on with our two kids (while the other one stayed wtih the baby) and they always let the three of us back in. Sometimes a CM would say, "this is supposed to be good for just two people" but they would always let the three of us on.

Another cool thing to know... when going on Space, you actually go in through the exit instead of throught the FP line. Give your pass to the CM who monitors the handicap entrance and walk right in through the exit. You can also go in through the exit on Big Thunder on days they don't issue FP's.

I'm particularly stupid tonight so I am not understanding this. So two adults and three kids, one is too small to ride Soarin'. According to this plan, we all get FP (even toddler), we go to the FP entrance and all enter. Then adult one and two kids ride and then come back to me and toddler. Then I ride with one or maybe both older children? And then we still have one FP unused?

The toddler would only be able to get a FP if (s)he actually has a park ticket. Either way, the only people who enter the ride are the people actually going on the ride. Once the first group goes, the group using the baby swap pass goes. If more than two people want go in using the baby swap pass, have the unused FP's ready. There were times when we used our leftover FP to get back in just so we didn't make the CM crazy.

In our case, here is what we did:
Party of 5, with one who couldn't go on the ride and had no park entry ticket; 2 parents, 2 kids, one baby. We'd get 4 PF's for the ride. Group 1 was one parent with 2 kids using 3 of the FP's (now we have 1 FP left over). 2nd parent stayed with baby while first group rode. 1st group gets off and 2nd parent would take 2 kids back on. Technically the baby swap pass is good for just 2 people but they'd always let the 3 of us back on (I like to keep FP's sometimes for the scrapbook ;) ). But as I was saying, when we didn't want to "break the rule" we'd use the 4th FP for the 3rd person in the 2nd group. On Space Mountain though, since you go in through the exit, the FP isn't acceptable for the entry-through-the-exit.
