Please help with a question. We are on the 1/8 sailing of the Magic, and we've never been before. I've read about people bringing things like pillowcases for kids to have the characters sign - but someone told me that characters refused to sign her dd's hat that she brought b/c she hadn't purchased it from their shops on board. Has anyone had that problem, or can you bring things for them to sign? Thanks!

My experience has been that characters will sign pillowcases. However, there are some limitations w/clothing and hats because characters are not supposed to endorse labels and brands that are not Disney. (sports teams, radio stations, etc.) Sometimes, these rules are enforced, sometimes not. Maybe that was the problem w/the hat you mentioned.

I would say, at best, it is difficult for them to sign things like hats. The autograph books work great because they can position them to sign. We left the pillow cases with our state room in a ziplock baggy and included a click permanent marker. It was great. They signed them at their leisure and returned them to the cabin on our last day. The girls also took autograph books and had them signed face to face.

I made t-shirts for our cruise. They took them at Guest Services and the characters signed them and returned them. It made a great souvenier!
