Question about changing a reservation on rented points

Hi all! Former DVC member here (lost it in the divorce). I rent points for all of my visits back to the World now, but I have a question that I am hoping you all would know how to answer.

I currently have a 2BR lockoff booked at Jambo House in a few weeks. We have decided we would rather stay in an actual 2BR (not lockoff) at Kidani instead. Can this be changed, and if so, how? Must I contact the members who rented me the points? Or is there a way I can do it myself?

I am grateful for whatever advice you have.

It would need to be done by the member. With it being a different booking category it would involve modifying to the new reservation if there is availability at Kidani.

Since the DVC Rent/Trade board is not a discussion forum, your question had to be moved.

The answer will depend on availability and on the cooperation of the DVC Member who has rented the reservation for you. There is no way you would be able to make such changes by yourself as the member controls the reservation until you have checked in at the resort.

I would contact that member first so they can check to see if a dedicated 2BR at Kidani is even available and, if so, would they be willing to make that change for you. If rented through a broker, the same thing would need to be done by the member who made the reservation.

Just for others, it can also depend on the contract you have.

Not all owners have the clause that a reservation can be modified even with rooms available.

So you’d have to see what the terms are from you owner.

Bur, given that you are not that far from the trip, even if your owner does allow it, the rooms would more likely be difficult to get.

Basically you rented a private reservation and this why you would not be able to change or discuss it with DVC.
