My dd7 had a celiac panel done, and although her IGA, Serum came out negative (88 with a normal range being 41 - 368), and her Gliadin AB negative (<3 with normal being <11), her TTG was positive (27 with normal being <5). She has an appointment with a pediatric GI more than a month from now, but should I be concerned? Celiac runs in the family.

We just went to a ped gastro last week for the same thing. The only way to confirm a celiac diagnosis is through an endoscopy with biopsy. Especially when blood work show borderline or low positive. We did insist on having new blood work done first and sent to Promethius Labs. I have to call next week for the results but I know that he will still need the endoscopy.

My son has Type 1 Diabetes and is tested yearly for Celiac. Why did you have the testing done?

My dd7 has had stomach issues for years, my cousins are carriers, and one of them has 2 children with celiac. I also have a gluten intolerance. She's also very thin, but eats a lot. I just want to rule it out. My cousin told me to have a DNA test done first (it's a somewhat new blood test), to see if she's a carrier, because if that comes out negative, she doesn't have Celiac. If it's positive, she might or might not have Celiac, and we can go on to the biopsy.

I had the symptoms of Celiac all of my life. When my dad was diagnosed I started getting tested every year at the age of 18. The tests were always inconclusive or negative. Less than a year after a negative test result, I got my first ear infection ever and remained ill for 4 months. 5 months later I was diagnosed with Celiac at 21 years old with a full positive blood test. My colonoscopy/endoscopy showed no Celiac damage.

The Prometheus Lab test that I mentioned earlier also shows if you have the antibodies for Celiac as well. http://www.prometheuspatients.com/Conditions_Celiac.asp

I was told that if any blood work shows up positive, you should have the endoscopy because the gentic testing is only 95% accurate and the endoscopy is the only 100% full proof diagnosis. I would suggest the endoscopy because your daughter is showing symptons.

In our case, my son has no symptoms of celiac. He is only tested because of his type 1 diabetes and people who have type 1 have an increased chance of developing or having celiac. They are both autoimmune diseases.

Good Luck!
