Question about carrying water bottles???

I strongly dislike carrying things around; however, a waterbottle is a must - especially during this time of the year. We usually buy water at the park and carry it on what appears to be a strap (we bought it for three dollars they have them at all parks, each strap is themed differently) this is useful because we dont have to worry about leaving it anywhere.

Also, I do not like the water out the fountain at Disney. Therefore, I usually have to go out my way and purchase a new water when needed - which can get costly, but water is a must.

The straps are great and you can use them anywhere. You can refill the bottles you buy if you want to, but it's too much of a nuisance for me.

I like using insulated water bottle bags. That way the water stays cooler, but you don't have drippy bottles to carry around. We have some that carry the liter and some that carry the .5 liter bottles (the first set I bought at BJ's several years ago and more recently I found some at Office Max). Each person in our family carries their own. We start the day with it half frozen and refill them when we go back to our room in the afternoon. (I usually buy a 3 gallon bottled water dispenser). I rarely buy the water in the parks and next to never drink from the fountains. FL water makes me ill - literally.

You can get ice (clean) and/or ice water from any CM at counter service or table service eateries for free. All you have to do is ask :) .

This past June, DD5 and I took refillable sport bottles, in the morning we filled them with ice at our resort and then asked for ice water from CMs whenever we needed a refill. They will give you a cup. You cannot give them your bottle. Then just pour it into you bottle and throw the cup away.

I also carried packets of crystal lite, pre-made packets of gatorade and cool aid to put in the water to mask the taste.

Hope this helps

I did the same thing, but didn't pour the ice water into a water bottle. I just drank the water then threw the cup away. I hate having a heavy water bottle banging against my leg (I have tried using a water bottle strap before, but didn't like it). Don't want to bring a big enough bag to carry a water bottle, so I just ask for ice water, drink it, and throw away the cup. (It's great - you don't even have to buy anything at the restaurant to get the water, they will just give it to you!

We will be in WDW for Labor Day weekend and I am sure it will be very hot. :sunny: What is the best way to carry water around the park?? Should we bring a refillable bottle or plastic throwaways?? If a refillable, where will we refill with good drinking water??? I anticipate being in most of the parks for many hours and am just not sure how to carry all the water we will need for the day. TIA for any tips you may have!! :thumbsup2

Check out the water filter bottles from purewater2go

no need to carry around water or drink the nasty water in the park. a great buy! portable filter built right into the bottle.

DH thought he'd be thrifty and refill our bottles. The kids called it the yucky water and we never did that again. We would buy one bottle and share it and when it was gone we'd get another. Good thing no one was sick.
Next time we'll get those straps for everone to carry their own. The only thing I might do is to get the smaller bottles for the kids and then refill them from my bigger bottle so it's less weight for them to carry.

yes, exactly! the water there is very bad. get a water filter bottle from www.purewater2go.com then you can filter the water from anywhere. I recommend the 16oz sport bottle size. they are small and easy to carry, plus they fit easily in water fountains and sinks to refill

We use the now discontinued Britta filter bottles. I must drink large quantities of water during the course of a day and there is no way I am buying that much water in the parks.

I find the tap water in the parks tastes "chalky" but it is just fine when filtered.

I tried adding ice to the bottle on the last trip and that was a disaster. It made the bottle sweat and get my clothes all wet.
I found if I wanted colder water, I could refill the bottle with cold water from a beverage stand or fountain and then drink to my heart's content. :thumbsup2

The brita bottles are discontinued, however, purewater2go now sells them. check them out.

I got a few bottles from them a couple weeks ago. I dont know what I did without them!!

Have Fun!! We froze water bottles every night. WE would then put them in a zip lock bag and carry them in our bag. We were carrying a bag anyway, so it was no big deal. We also did not think that Disney was too expensive on water, a large bottle was only $2.00, and they were always cold!!!

ONLY $2?? OK, lets see. 5 members of my family, $2 per bottle, per day. We are gone 9 days. That's $90!! And that's only assuming 1 bottle per day. We drink more than that.

For only $7 you can get a bottle that will last for 3 months!! That's 2 cents per bottle. Plus you dont have to carry the heavy water around. Purewater2go is a cheapo option.

we bought one of those neck-carrying things for our water bottles the first day we were there. the night before we would put the water bottles in the freezer and take them out that morning so they would be frozen for a good while(we went right around this time last year ::misses::). we would refill throughout the day(just the plastic water bottles) at the drinking fountains and sometimes the CM's at the carts outside would let us get some ice and put it in with the water. we did almost the same thing for our spray fans(but we didn't freeze the whole bottle, we just put a lot of ice in them the morning we left)

What is a nalgene bottle? and where do you get it?

They are made of lexan plastic which is virtually unbreakbale... very durable and light. Nalgene is an outdoors brand, but their water bottles seem to be everywhere nowadays. But, you can buy knock-off brands of them at Walmart, Target, etc. too.

I just got my purewater2go bottles and I love them! I ordered the family pack of the 27oz sport bottles and a few extra filters. They are very handy, I definitely recommend them for everybody. You can just throw them in a bag or carry them anywhere. Just refill wherever you are.

Our water where I live has a funny smell to it. I tried it with that, and it smells and tastes like fresh, pure water!!

My husband didnt want to get them because he thought they wouldnt work. Boy was he WRONG!!
