Question about carry-on case size...

On Midwest's website it says carry-on cases should be 21x14x9-1/2. My case says on the tag that it's 20x14x9, that's how much the actual case measures. When you add on the wheels it's almost 22", will it be too big? The wheels don't retract or anything. I can still take it back I think, I bought it about 3 weeks ago. All of sudden I decided to check the size. What do you think? Thanks!

That's a good question! I would say try it. Worst case they will make you stow it overhead OR gate check it. If either of those aren't a problem for you then I would give it a go...if it is a problem then I would probably return it for a smaller sized bag...

Ooo, I agree with this too! I've done the live chat with their customer service people on the computer before and they were GREAT! Of course the online chat is probably shut down till Monday now...

I was planning on carrying it on and stowing it overhead. I don't think I want to gate check it, not sure what that is. I'd rather keep it with me. I'll give them a call and see what they say. Their number would be on their website right?

Gate check is when something can not fit in the overhead, either because it's too big or there is no room left. They put a tag on it and the baggage handlers pick it up and put it under the plane. It used to be that they would return it to the gate when you landed but most airlines are sending it to baggage claim now.

The problem with larger sized carry-on's is that even if it would physically fit in the overhead, you may find there isn't room because others have already put their over-size stuff up there. If you travel with the smallest carryon possible, you have much less difficulty.

Chances are it won't fit in the overhead. You need to measure with the wheels. Do you have an airport nearby? Most airlines usually have a sizer that you can stick your suitcase in to see if it would fit.

Thanks for all your advice, I called Midwest and they pretty much said the same thing, if it didn't fit I'd have to check it and they thought it probably wouldn't fit, so I took it back. Now the search is on for a new carry-on case!
