Question about Car Renting

My mom and I are thinking of definately getting the rental car over the Towncar as we want to shop for apartments while we are down there but I have a question or concern.

We are picking up the car at 10:30am on May 3rd and are dropping it off May 10th when we fly home. I put the time of drop off as 5pm as that is the latest we would be dropping it off. Most likely it would be 3:30 closer to 4pm but I didn't want to worry about being late and having to pay a fee for dropping it off late. I know I will be charged for keeping it that late and i have a coupon for a free day so that will make that not an issue.

My concern is if I drop it off at 3:30 or 4pm will they charge me for bringing it back the same day but earlier then the time i put on the reservation??


We don't do this kind of thing that often and I don't want to have any surprises!

The car is rented in 24 hour periods. You are paying for an extra day if you have a return time of either 3:30 or 4:30 because you pick the car up at 10:30. Since you paid for the extra day they won't have a problem with you returning it several hours earlier.

When people have a problem usually it is because they sign up for the extra day so they can get a better rate then return the car early. The company adjusts the rate so it costs them more then.
