Okay, so I am opting to use my "stupid question of the day" token for this one! :rotfl:

I know Cape May Cafe is a Clambake - does it have a general fishy/seafoody smell? Now, I don't have a problem if it does, since it would be expected with clams and mussels and such on a buffet.... However, DH (who hopefully doesn't find this thread and read it :rotfl2: ) is the type who makes faces when I make a tuna fish sandwich because the smell gets to him.

Red Lobster has never been a problem, but they also aren't a buffet restaurant. Also - from reviews I've read, it seems like there is more than enough of a selection for his 'anti-seafoodness'?

Thanks for everyone's opinions - I'm on the fence about this one because there are so many great places to eat at WDW that I don't want to have an 'off' night because of ambiance! :thumbsup2

Speaking as a person who is very, very much as your DH sounds, Cape May Cafe is still a great choice. We were there in early June for a late dinner (our ADR was 7:40) and I had similar concerns and I didn't notice any seafood smell at all. I'm much like him--can't stand fish or seafood smell at all and I honestly didn't notice any. And I don't (obviously) eat any fish or seafood and I found more than enough great food to eat while we were there. We all loved this place (DH--BIG seafood eater and not at all picky, Me--no seafood and somewhat picky, My mom--some seafood, not picky, DS7--no seafood and VERY picky, and DS5--fish but not seafood, not at all picky) and we can be a hard group to please, LOL! Whether he finds this thread or not :goodvibes tell him he will be good to go! It was great.

We've eaten at Cape May many, many times and I have never noticed a fishy odor -- and I definitely would notice if it was there!

I think the food smells may actually be sucked back into the center of the square buffet area by fans.

We have eaten only vegetarian meals at Cape May and found plenty of choices. I'm sure if you will find that to be true to if you are just skipping the seafood. There were several meat dishes...although I admit I never look too closely at those.

Have a great dinner!

Do not remember a bad smell...Food was good, not great...There were many veggie choices and kid selections...We would go back but we are not running.

My family enjoys the Cape May clambake and only my husband eats seafood. I didn't notice a seafood smell at all.

There is enough of a variety of food that everyone is happy!

Have dined there many many times and never smelled anything fishy

I must have a particularly sensitive nose, but I avoid the Beach Club lobby in the evenings because the fish smell back my stomach upset. We've never tried to eat dinner there due to the smell

I did not notice a fishy smell when we dined at Cape May and there is plenty to eat for someone who is not a big seafood fan. The ribs were the best I had at WDW.

I also don't remember a smell..I worked in a grocery store seafood dept. for a few years so I am pretty sensitive to it! It's a GREAT buffet...DH doesn't really go for the clams and finds plenty of other stuff!! :thumbsup2

I love shellfish but don't eat fish and am extremely sensitive to the smell of either. We had dinner at Cape May and I did not notice a smell at all. We enjoyed the meal and there were choices that were not fish/seafood.

The ventilation system at Cape May must be pretty good, but remember that you will be seated near somebody that will be having fish/seafood and no matter how good the ventilation is, your hubby will smell it. If he isn't willing to accept it, then you might be better off eating elsewhere.
