Question About California Grill And Wishes

The food is brought right out (along with half the restraints) as soon as whises is over.
.
So, they tie you up for dinner? :rotfl:

According to our Keys to the Kingdom Guide, the daytime parade always starts in Frontierland and the nighttime parade always starts by the fire station, near City Hall.
So, concievably, it is possibly possible to watch SpectroMagic from near the 'tunnel' near City Hall, then REALLY hustle on foot over to the Contemporary.

Your guide is wrong. I've seen the nighttime parade start from both ends. I'll believe what I've seen with my own eyes before what I read someplace.

Wishes is a great thing to see from GC. If I had my choice I prefer being outside on the deck to view them. Even though they dim the lights and pipe in the music it is still noisy and there is a lot of reflection on the glass from interior lights even when having a window seat. By far the most spectacular show from the CG is the sunsets. We went to the CG at 5:30 last month before going to MVMCP. It was as cloroful as a Key West sunset (minus the Gulf) and the "show" lasted way longer than fireworks. Another option is to go for an early dinner (they start serving at 5:30) then go to the MK for the fireworks...you just have to hop on the monorail and ride it around. You will have plenty of time to see the fireworks from the front of the castle, which is just spectacular - actually the best place to see it. By going to an earlier dinner you will get the best of both. Also the CG is not crowded at that time, it was quiet and romantic. I am trying to get my pics posted from that evening of both the sunset and the fireworks from the MK. My camera has high megapix so the photos are too large to post....trying to figure out how to post them so you can see what I am talking about.

:confused3 The megapixels in your camera have NOTHING to do with the size of your images--except that in general lower mp camera photo's don't blow up well. (Although my most "famous" and profitable photo to date was taken with a lower mp prosumer Minolta, and not my Nikon--go figure.)

You simply need to use a photo editing program to resize the photo's. Image size doesn't equal megapixels.

Can I suggest taking a digital photography class? It will really help you learn more about your camera and how it functions. This isn't just lip service. I'm a professional photographer, and am spending weekend after this coming in classes at Nikon school. There's always something new to be learned. :)

Yeah, it is definitely cutting it close trying to do both SpectroMagic at MK and Wishes at CG.
But I agree with Lancer who said that it's all part of the adventure and challenge of it all, so I'm still gonna give it a whirl.

But now I don't know which is better: Making an earlier reservation (7:30) and getting there late or making a later reservation (8:30) and getting there early.

:confused3

I just had a question to add to the previous. I have a reservation at 9pm, but wishes is at 8pm, is there a bar that my dh and I could relax at for an hour and also still be able to watch the fireworks? :earsgirl:

Welp, here's the deal. I just called to make my ressie. 1st of all, I can not believe that even in the middle of January, the slowest time of the year, on a Thursday, there was barely anything available for Wishes. The only reservations they had for that night available were 8:20 pm! Wishes is at 8. So, I took them.

My first question to the woman I was speaking to at Disney Dining, was, we want to see wishes, is it possible for us to go up to CG early so we can watch, and then sit down to eat.

She said, they can't guarantee that we'll be allowed up before Wishes b/c the only way we would be alllowed up is if the Lounge area in the restaurant isn't full. If it's full, then we won't be able to go up until our table is ready.

SO, to answer your question, it is possible to be able to lounge for an hour and watch the show, but only so long as the lounge area isn't full- no guarantees.

There is a bar in the California Grill, but if there isn't room at the bar, they won't let you up. You still need to check in on the 2nd FLoor to go to the bar.

Can I suggest your taking of a digital photography class?

The output resolution of your camera (referred to in MegaPixels) defines the image size that the OP is concerned about here - ie size on screen. For instance, my camera captures 12.8 megapixels (4368x2912). An image that size would fill up about 12 of your monitors, unless resized down to something much smaller in Photoshop - ie 436x291 pixels, which would take up a third or so of a 1024 x 768 display.

Perhaps you are thinking of DPI, which defines the detail that your printer tries to cram into an inch when printing. The more detail it uses per inch from your image, the smaller the output print. ie, a 1000x1000 pixel image at 100 dpi will yield a print 10 inches by 10 inches, whereas printed at 300dpi would yield around 3 inches by 3 inches. DPI is defined in Photoshop, and only affects printing.

What the OP needs is an application that will resize her image. Whether it is Photoshop Elements or Paint Shop Pro, or one of the shareware programs on the internet, it is an easy thing to do.

You are right--I misunderstood what the poster was saying, my bad entirely. Sorry to the poster. Although taking a digital photography class will still be a good idea, you'll learn about resizing ;)

Windows XP has a free image resizer dowlodable from MS. Just right click on your image, select resize. It even gives you recomendations for what size you should select.

Thanks for the info. I know how to use my camera and how to download pics on the internet and all that stuff - LOL. I am just having a hard time getting the pics to my posts. The Disboards are the only place I have a problem. I have read the threads that give step by step instructions....but only to fail :confused3 . It's quite frustrating.

Once I figure it out though I will post my pics....

But is it possible to loung AFTER you eat.
My scenerio is opposite of yours. There will be 5 of us. 2 who will be in MK and want to return to MK for wishes after eating at CG-the other 3 of us would like to have a drink and stay for Wishes. I like the idea of the "sunset" dinner, but will they allow the 3 of us to stay after our other 2 friends leave?

Yes if there is room at the bar. Although I'm sure if you moved over into the bar area and waited for seats to free they wouldn't kick you out after you had dined there.

Oh yeah, you can definitely stay if the three of you want to watc the show from CG. If you're already up there it's not a problem. Once you're up there you're good. You can stay in the lounge or go to the observation deck. I wanted to get reservations befor the show too but NOTHING was available unitl 8:20pm!
