I spoke to a CM online while checking out various WDW resorts. I told her that I was looking for a room to accommodate two adults and one junior in three separate beds.

I asked about the cabins knowing that they had bunkbeds. She said the cabins wouldn't work for us because the bunkbeds in the cabins are for kids. Is this true?

Have any adults slept in the bunkbeds? If so, were they comfortable?

Thanks!

My mom and I slept in the bunk beds in May.

Mom - 55 yrs old, 5' 3" - Bottom Bunk

Me - 33 yrs old, 5' 0" - Top Bunk

FYI: We are both on the plus size in weight.

I slept comfortably when I was able to sleep, but I am a light sleeper and was not use to others in the room.

It has been about 5 and a half years, but I slept on the top bunk with my young nephew. I don't remember how long they were, but I am 5'9 and I don't remember feeling too tall for it. I do not believe they are only for children. I think the idea beind having them in the cabin is fun for children, but they were not tiny like a toddler bed. I think it will be fine.

The cabins sleep up to 6. There's a double bed and bunks in the bedroom and a murphy bed in the main room. Our party of 6 has one booked October 5th. The CM must be cornfused.

We were there a few months ago and my brother in law, who is 6' slept in the bottom bunk and my niece, who is about 5'4" or so, slept in the top bunk, he said it slept great..... I think you will be fine for sure..... Have fun!!!

We just flew back two days ago after staying a week. Love those cabins!

To be honest I climbed into the top bunk only once to see what it was like when my fam was out doing laundry.

Very awkward getting into as a 41 year old :)

Funny thing happened while I was up there--mousekeeping knocked at my door so I had to race down. Considered even jumping onto double below (shhhh, don't tell Disney). Decided against it and made several painful mistakes on the ladder.

Ran to the door...and it was my daughter on the other side playing a trick on me :rotfl:

Grrrr.....

One thing I need to add--some of the bunks are noisy if you're a light sleeper. Anybody shifts in their sleep and you'll hear it. Get earplugs if that might be a problem. We've been three times and the first two cabins had squeaky bunks.

We stayed last year and I don't think the bunkbeds were any shorter than the full size bed, yes more narrow but what I expected in a bunkbed. There is also the Murphy bed in the living room, my sister said it was comfortable as well-:thumbsup2

We were in a cabin this summer - DD slept on the bottom bunk. I got in with her once and the length was fine - but you're gonna bonk your head if you try to sit up! :rotfl: I can't vouch for the top bunk - never ventured up there. The murphy bed is an other option - you aren't just stuck with the bedroom.
We really enjoyed the cabin and found it was great for spreading out! The last night we were there, we were all three on separate beds.

Thank you all for responding to my post!

I thought it was strange when the CM said that the bunk beds were only for kids. I knew I needed to consult the DIS to get the correct answer :thumbsup2

The plan is to give the boys the bedroom - one in the double bed and one in a bunk bed and I will take the Murphy bed in the living room. (BTW Thanks abouttime for the review of the Murphy bed). That way they can stay up late watching TV and talking on the phone and I can get to bed early.

Plus I can get up early in the morning and get ready for my day without worrying about waking them up :thumbsup2 Who knows, I might even cook breakfast

After sharing a room at Pop during our last trip, I knew we would need to do something different on our next trip. I have two rooms reserved at Pop for our next trip. However, I am seriously considering staying in the cabin instead. I like the idea of having a kitchen (even though I probably won't use it) and I LOVE that we will have enough room to spread out!

There are usually discounts available for the cabins. This past summer, I think you could get a 40% discount. Also, when the free dining plan is offered, you can get it for the cabins. If you are driving, you can always go to WalMart, about 5 miles away, and stock up on food, snacks, soda, etc.

Actually the beds in the cabins are some of the more comfortable beds we have slept in. Even DD who slept in the top bunk said it was just like her bed at home.

Disneylitch -

I had a cabin reserved using a 40% off BB offer for this December but we won't be able to make it back for Christmas :sad2:

But luckily, next year's FD offer will be taking place while we are down there :woohoo: I already have a ressie booked at Pop with FD but I am thinking about switching to the cabins.

shafke -

Glad to hear that the bunk beds are comfortable. :thumbsup2

Even without cooking, I think you might be surprised how much use you get out of that kitchen. We loaded the fridge up with yogurt and fruit and it was nice having milk and plenty of cereal choices for breakfast. And one must not forget the cold beer.
And the oven and microwave are nice for heating up leftovers for midnight snacks or making popcorn.
We got a delivery this last time from Garden Grocer, and it worked great for us.

Thanks indimom! I'm not much for cooking on vacation - especially with FD -but I might make breakfast in the room a few days.

I love Garden Grocer! It is so convenient to have groceries delivered right to you!

I agree about using the kitchen - we didn't cook anything while we were there, but we PACKED the fridge with bottled water, sodas, Capri Sun, milk, fruit, yogurt, beer... you get the idea.
We did use the microwave several times to reheat stuff. There is a decent size pantry cabinet too and you can put lots of snacks and chips in there.

You know what, we did cook once. We "cooked" a frozen pizza in the oven. :rotfl:

Another thing I liked about the cabin was that the bathroom door opens to the hallway. So, you don't have to walk by someone sleeping to get in there - and if you shower while others are sleeping they won't wake up.

We usually rent a fridge when we stay at Pop to keep our beverages cold. So I'm glad the cabin comes with a fridge!

Unlike the other resorts, you're not just a morning stroll away from the food court. So it's much nicer to have food there in the morning ready to go when you're hungry.

We're staying a the cabins for the first time in a few weeks and I like the idea of the space and the fridge, not to mention the outdoor grill. We are going to have my brother and his wife who live in Orlando visit with us while we're there, and the grill will be great to cook out on. That dinner is probablly the only thing that we will cook there other then breakfast, but having the option is really nice. It let us tack on another character breakfast which my DD will love. :D

Enjoy your trip to the Fort. From what I have read it is the Bees knees. :hippie:

I don't remember when you are going but i thought of you when i was at the fort a few weeks ago (remembering this post). My DS slept on the top bunk. My DH and i were on the double bed but we have a King at home so it was a little tight so after the first night i switched to the bunk bed. I spent most nights with my feet propped up on the ladder cause my feet hung off a little. i'm like 5'7 and a half and it was comfy to an extent but for someone bigger them me it wouldn't be.

Just an FYI
