Hi everyone,

Our wedding is going to be on a Sunday in January. The ceremony is starting at 12 pm at the Wedding Pavilion and the reception is at Atlantic Dance Hall. My question is...I'm trying to decide on bridesmaids dresses now, and I found one that I really like, but its long. Are long dresses not appropriate that early in the day? I'm not sure of the etiquette.
Thanks!

Etiquette Shmettique!! ;) If you like the dresses then they are totally appropriate...now "technically speaking" long dresses are traditionally for formal evening-ish weddings...but I think that was a long time ago...long dresses were the fashion for a very long time and still are...I chose tea length dresses b/c I'm getting married in August and it's HOT and I wanted every one to be comfy and that is what they preferred, so there ya go! You are the bride baby and it's all up to you!!! I LOVE THAT!!! :cheer2:

I agree! It's your day, do what you like!

We are having a 9 am wedding. I really didn't care, but thought the fact that everyone was as cool as possible in May. Basically, my bridesmaid, and MOH are tea length, I am full length, the jr bridesmaids are tea length, and the flower girls are ankle length. I didn't care about uniformity as much as everyone being as comfortable as possible. Esp the kids running around...I am going to be hot for sure since mine is satin, but hey we will all make it through!

get the dresses that you like and don't worry about them being long or short- as long as you like them that's all that matters. It's your day and who is going to criticize you on doing what you want to do? If they do then shame on them!

I don't think that whole ettiquette thing has as much validity as it used to. I think it should be what you and your bridesmaids like! I have been to evening formal/semi-formal weddings where the bm and guests were wearing cute cocktail dresses so why can't the opposite apply? it's your day make your vision come to life....good luck.

do what you want- I am getting married at noon and am doing tea length, but that is b/c I liked the tea length, if I was getting married at 7 I would probably do tea length as well..... Have a great day!!
