Question about borrowed points

I just completed walking a reservation, but now I have 40 points that I didn’t use that had to be borrowed from my 2027 use year during the walking process I have a February use year, do these 40 points have to be used by January 2027?

Points borrowed from 2027 must be used from 2/1/26 to 1/31/27 for a February use year.

Do you any other reservations in that period? If so you can modify it to use the borrowed points and then would have those points back to be able to bank into 2027.

If you borrowed Feb 2027 points for a trip in the Feb 2026 UY, then they are stuck there and expire end of January 2027.

However, the only way to be left with borrowed points is if you didn’t have any 2026 UY points to use?

The system will use borrowed points first. Are you sure the remaining points are not your Feb 26 UY points? You can try banking them (after Feb 1st comes round) to check.

Also, if you are walking and the points requirement is high for a couple of nights, just reduce the block of nights that you are walking… you only need 2 days in a row in order to walk.

So the contract below has 40 Allocated points. If they are in that section you can then bank them or borrow them but it is a final transaction and once they have been banked or borrowed they must be used during that time frame.

The above picture shows 143 points were banked in. Those points will expire at the end of the current use year. If that contract is also February then those points must be used by 1/31/27. If it is the same use year (February) MS might be able to use those banked points to free up others giving you the ability to bank some into the next use year.

Since it says 40 allocated, it means those are your 2026 UY points and not ones borrowed from 2027.

The borrowed ones are in your reservation.

Yes, it’s programmed to do that, so the points with the most restrictions (banked, borrowed, transferred, OTUP) are used before current points. Protects us from ourselves!
